unbelievable not being ripped off by and egyptian but an eng

Had a fantastic holiday at the oriental hotel but there was thing that has ticked me off so much that i have had to get on here and say because i am disgraced i got done over by own kind.

I went to the Great British Pub across the road from the hotel it was right on my door step and i thought result, could watch the England games and my beloved Liverpool.

The first time i went was to watch Andorra v England the game started at 7pm in England but for some reason they were advertising it as the same kick off time in Sharm el Sheikh, i thought nothing of it and went in with my lad at 6.30pm to get a good seat, by 7pm there was no sign of football and me and my lad had already bought 2 drinks, we asked a Scottish fella when it would be on and he said "yeah yeah mate in a minute" come 8pm there was still no sign of football and people where getting a little restless not just my lad and i, everyone, by 9pm the game had already started and was into the second half, by this point now the owner was trying to hook his laptop up to the televison to show the game, by this point my and my lad had bought easy 5 drinks each because i wasn't going to sit there and make on drink last, at about 9.15pm everyone emptied the place and as we all filed down the stairs the owner shouts " i don't know where the f*** your going we are the only place that shows football"

I was outraged but after he said there was no where else that showed football I realised if I wanted to watch football there was the only place, I went back in on the Wednesday night to watch the Croatia game, I realized that he advertises an hour early to get people in early drinking more which is fair enough because its tactic to make a little more money, we went in at 8pm and the game was on at 9pm, the owner come up and chatted to us not knowing we were there on the Saturday night and told us how packed full the pub was and what a good game it was an the atmosphere was great and that point i flipped i cant stand liars and he was definetly a liar, so I said to my son were going now, the bloke shouted at me "whats the problem" i shouted back "you".

When friends of ours got back to the hotel after the game they told us the result and i was delighted but then h told me he was being charged 4quid a beer and said to him that's not right we were being charged 2quid by the Egyptian fella he said " well either the Egyptian fella was undercharging you or the English bloke was overcharging me" i stormed over there that night with my mate and asked the bloke why he had been charging my mate 4quid a drink he replied " prove it" i was outraged and there was nothing we could do until we spoke to the Deputy Manager of the Oriental Hotel and he told us to go to the tourism police and make a complaint which we did and they actually got my mate back all his money off the scum bag.

I am outraged that in a country like Egypt where they are poverty stricken and they do try and overcharge you for anything to make themselves more money, i actually found an English bloke doing the same its a disgrace and if i ever go back there i will never go to this Great British Pub.

There was another English place we went to but only for food called Churchills it was ok nothing special though and quite highly priced plus they didn't show football either.

Sorry to moan but i find it a disgrace.

LoL , I too left before the game started against croatia because he advertised the game at the wrong time , i went back to my hotel room and watched the game live on the tv. To be honest i think he is just desperate for customers , because the place is empty when there is no football on and his beer is crap too , as is the alcohol in most of sharm. The bar owner told me that he had lived in sharm for 5 years , so obviously the eygptian rip off culture has rubbed off on him , and boy do they try to rip you off , i wouldnt mind but most of it is old tat anyway, i wished they would not say "cheaper than ASDA" its so turkey 5 years ago and it got on my bloody nerves!!!

I take it this is in Nabq? What's the name of the pub....St. George's? Is the guy's name Pete?

Where's St Georges? This was The Great British Pub across the road form the Oriental Resort i am talking about!

I thought you may have been being sarky when you called it the Great British Pub. Hadn't heard of it, that's why I asked, but had heard of St. George's Bar & Churchills. Just wanted clarification.

Naama had lots of boozers that showed the footie.As soon as it went past ko time i'd of been off,and as for paying 4gbp for a pint? The words head and examining spring to mind,2gbp is too much for the ditch water they served as beer! And why would you be surprised about being ripped off by an englishman,we've been doing it for years!,or so my scottish and colonial cousins have been telling me.
Got your message though, if i go back i won't be using that pub.
