| We're booked to go to the Alba Resort which is in Colakli near Side. We're going in June, Thomas Cook have advised us that they "believe" there is building work ongoing but they are unsure as to the exact location. They have advised the work is ongoing in/& around the Alba Resort, Alba Royal & Alba Queen. Has anyone else has a similar notification?

| Would anyone who has been to the Alba Royal be able to let me know what it was like for mozzies? My hubby tends to get really badly bitten when we are away. Is it best to buy local repellants?

| Hi there when are off to the Alba Royal?? We got home a week ago and had a fanastic time. We had no probs with mozzies at all whilst there - i took all the stuff but we didnt use it at all. Think my husband got bit twice but thats cause he was sitting by a bright light at the pool at 1am!!! Please say hi to Yahill who is a waiter there and from Bulgaria - he was really good to our family and excellent with our son. Infact all the waiters & bar staff are brill and very friendly - I hope you will have as good a time we did - got room in your case for me cause id definately go back!!!

| Hi Spurs, have you written a review on www.holidaycheck.com and/or Tripadvisor? I think folk would be pleased to hear of your experience at the Alba Royal. We need more English reviews, most of them are in German. Thanks

| We had no problems with mossies but were bitten by something, possibly ants? We even checked the beds but they were spotless. There were other English people who had also been bitten. Dont let it put you off we had a great time and the hotel is gorgeous.

| Hi Spurs01 and Sigourney. Thanks for replying. It sounds as if we won't have too much to worry about mozzie wise which is great as my poor hubby is usually a target for anything that bites. We go on 17th August for 1 week and are really looking forward to it now. I agree that we need some reviews on Trip Advisor - I check this everytime I am on line and can't believe there are no reviews as such. One more thing - did you find any problems with getting sun loungers? We are early risers on holiday anyway as we like that quiet time around the pool with our books, however I am not sure that we are as early as the Germans!!

| No problem with sun loungers when we went in July. We usually sat by the spa pool (waterfalls) as you can pull the beds further back than being all in a row around the main pool. Have a great holiday - we did.
Any problems or advice speak to Mohamed at Guest Relations as he is from London and a really nice guy so no problem with language. He will also book the restaurants for you.

| Hi Amadeus, we liked to sit by the wooden bridge in the main pool away from the hub of the animation team which could be quite noisy and all the kids on the left hand side of the pool. We did find that our continental friends liked to get up at 6am in the morning to pinch the sunbeds. Some were even pinching two lots at different areas of the pool.We used to get up and leave our towels after an early morning swim . You also have to make sure you have a brolly as it was hitting 46 degrees and these were also pinched.Beware ther are lots of toddlers swimming in the main pool with their parents and one off my sons picked up a nasty ear infection if you know what I mean! If you have any problems at all speak to Mohammed who is a lovely English guy in customer relations on a summer placement. He definately roots for us Brits.Have a fantastic holiday, try the Turkish al la carts you will be treated like kings with 2 waiters. The food is fantastic and the hotel is one of the best weve stayed in Sigourney.

| We had no probs with sun loungers at all - I usually popped down before b/fast about 830/9am to put our towels on the beds and we got a brolly as well. You are not allowed to put any towels down before 7am as they would be taken off by the staff!! We never had any probs with ear infections or anythin, we had a 8yr old son swimming around with the other children. The main pool was the only real pool for the kids to swim in unless they used the baby pool which was tiny. Plenty of room around and in the pool for everyone.
The animation never bothered you and the entertainment was good fun for all the family and you could join in if you wanted and we were never pestered.
The beach is lovely - watch the sand very HOT!! They have shaded areas if you want them. Beds are plentiful down there too. If you can go the beach party in the week at nite cause it is fantastic entertainment for all the family.
As others have mentioned - any problems or if you want to book the a la carte restuarants , then speak to Mohammed he is a brill guy and nothing is too much bother for him. If you speak to him say hi from us cause he was a nice guy. Have a fantastic holiday cause we did , just wish i could come with you all. Would definately return in an instant.

| Hi Spurs01 and Sigourney. Thanks once again for the reply. I take on board all you say and my first port of call will have to be with Mohamed, just to get in with him! I feel better about the sun loungers now, not because of anything in particular, just because I hate this thing of having to fight for them. I much prefer just for everyone to go out when they want and to be something for everyone, even though it might not be the same spot. I will have a drink for you both while e are there and toast you all. Take care and thanks.

| Hi Spurs and Sigourney,
Thanks for all your replies they are really helpful.
can you tell me if there is a dress code in the restarants please?
Also is there a best place to ask the hotel for a room? I normally email the hotel a couple of weeks before we go.
Thanks again

| Hi Addick,
The dress code was very relaxed and we did highlight this with Mohammed. Our continental cousins dont seem to dress up. I would have expected people to dress for dinner in a five star hotel.I didnt wear anything that I would normally have done and I wouldnt waste the baggage allowance. My hubby wore chinos and a short sleeved shirt for dinner and I managed in what I would describe as smart casual.
As regards the room, we were on the top fifth floor overlooking the sea with sun all day.The boys were across from us overlooking the Alba and they were disturbed by wedding parties and the mini zoo. They were shaded which was good for them and they also had a good view. The rooms were lovely if a little small and dressing gowns were provided.
