| Spent several years working in Canada and enjoyed great snowboarding.I can only manage a trip to Europe this year. Any ideas on best destinations for Snow. Would like to go before Christmas. Is there likely to be anywhere with snow. Has anyone any experience.

| If before xmas, I suggest going further south in Austria, to Soelden perhaps. Good night life and nice thick powdery snow last time I was there. There is also reliable snow on the Stubai Glacier outside Innsbruck.

| Presuming that the snow ( lack of ) last season was a blib. I would recommend the Portes du Soleil - Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets and the Swiss resorts. Massive ski area, very varied, high altitude in Avoriaz with plenty of trees and roly poly terrain in the other resorts, very well linked, great towns and night life, many amazing terrain parks, only 90 min transfer from Geneva or less than 8 hours in a car from Calais.
The area has a massive amount of north facing slopes so the snow tends to stay longer and because it is so close to Mount Blanc it is genarally the first area to get dumped on.
There is also a very good selection of accommodation for all budgets.
Hope this helps
Jon

| Looks cheap. Empty slopes. Anything bad to say?

| Bulgaria is up and coming and only cheap because its not overly touristy at the moment but prices will start to go up no doubt! Its cheap for summer deals too.
Better for beginners and intermediates i think but i have heard nothing bad about it. If you are looking for fantastic accom and 5 star service prob not for you but if you simply want to go for the snow, worth looking into weather reports.

| Just come back from Borovets. Whilst it is simple and basic it was incredible value for money. Stayed in the hotel Bor. Basic and about 15 minutes walk into town but again for a cheap chance to get on the slopes great value for money.

| Any of the French resorts are great for boarding too as many of the lift systems have now been upgraded and drag lifts are becoming a thing of the past. (Drag lifts are not good on a board). FOr those with abit of money though Canada & the States are the place to go. Have boarded Lake Louise/Banff area and this is fab. Huge wide pistes, lots of snow, few people on the mountain. Just costs alot to get there and is generally room only so you need to allow for more spending money.

| Val Thorens is one of the best ski resorts to hit early in the Ski season as the snow is reliable and it is Europes highest ski resort.
Bansko in Bulgaria is also a good choice. Both featured in our top 10 :)
