Where to go with a beginner?

I'm planning on going skiing last week of Marach, First week of April and my parents will be coming with me this time. The problem is they are relative beginners, having been to soll most time was spent on blue runs at Scheffau, although some of the blues were too difficult. Does anyone know of any resorts that at the beginning of April will have snow, and a good selection of very easy runs?

Hi! I have just come back from obergurgl in Austria, the resort is 1800 m and the highest ski area is 2800m approx.
This was our second ski holiday, and found the blue runs fantastic!
we even tried 3 red runs, which were really wide.
I would recommend you go over to Hochgurgl for the 1st/2nd day as the blue runs there are even better, good conditons, efficient lifts and really wide and gentle blues. This is the resort next to obergurgl and is accessed via the gondola which takes approx 15mins.
I would recommend this resort for the late ski season, as it is high altitude, and it is bery snow sure from beginning to end of season.
Try the hotel Josl, for ultra modern and central hotel, or the Edelweiss for more tradition and best location, right next to the lift.
If you have any queries please email me on foxxyroxy@tiscali.co.uk

Yes obergurgl is great. Also if you want to look at France, take a look at Avoriaz. It's 1800m, ski in/out mostly and lovely easy green and blue runs (super for my 3-4 yr old, so great for beginners too). Be careful not to stay in Morzine at that time of year. Sometimes it's advertised as Avoriaz, but in fact is in the lower adjacent town of Morzine, where the snow will be poor and all beginners will be struggling.

Hi - you could try Bulgaria. A number of resorts available although luckily I think Bansko is fairing best with regards to snow cover etc...

Ste Foy in France is a good option. Its a small resort, and so much quieter than the super-resorts like Tignes and Val. This means the pistes are a lot quieter - which can really help built up beginners' confidence. It has only one green run, which snakes down through the trees to the first lift, but plenty of blues that are mostly wide and easy. Even some of the reds are relatively easy. It also has a lot of very accessible off piste and unpisted blacks, for the more confident members of the group!
Ste Foy is snow sure, and has a lovely atmosphere for family holidays (as opposed to the major drinking scene of Val etc). My family has been skiing with Premiere Neige for years - www.premiere-neige.com I think. It is a fab resort to consider if you want a skiing holiday thats actually quite relaxing!

You may want to consider going to a resort in Norway as they are much less busy than the big Alps ones (and often cheaper too!) which is important when it's your first time. We went to one called Voss: there is a good selection of green and blue runs and the first stop from the cable car is a nice plateau where the ski school practises and is really good for building up your confidence etc. The instructors are all really friendly - even if you're not having lessons with them - and speak excellent English. We thoroughly enjoyed learning to ski here!
