Maribor - plenty of things to do

Well what a gem the area around Maribor is. Mountains for great MB trails, horse-riding, walking, lots for the kids to do too.
Water-parks within 30mins drive of the city.
Historical towns close by.
Austria, Croatia and Hungary within 45mins drive.
The area around Maribor is beautiful, very alpine.
Eating and drinking out is really cheap - most we paid for food and drink for 5 was �60 (including tip).
Most people speak English failing that German is a pretty popular language too.
Ljublijana is a 2hr train ride away (approx �20 return fare) and a great place to spend a weekend.
Slovenia is a great secret.
