Currency?

Hi All
We are going to Sri Lanka first 2 weeks of Feb the question we have is which currency is best to take Sri Lankan Rupees, Dollars or Sterling.

take sterling no point paying to exchange twice

Think I would take mainly sterling and a few small dollar notes for tips. I'm sure I read that you can't get any Rupees unless you hold a Sri Lanka passport holder (but don't hold me to that I might be talking rubbish!!)
