weather in Sept

I really want to spend some of my money in Sri Lanka, help them out after the tsumani, my 60th next year, but its in early Sept?

What will the weather be like, I have had conflicting views when researching, even from travel companies. Can anybody give idea's.

I believe it is monsoon season around that time. Could be wrong though!
