We have booked the coconut beach resort in St Lucia for June next year, can anyone please help with any information on the island or more specifically the southern area of the island. I have read many reviews of the hotel, bit of a mixed bag, but i am still a bit in the dark about the area.
Cheers Bri.

I loved it, don't know about the hotel you're going to. There weren't too many shops, which my other half thought was a plus point :( , would definitely go back there :)

St Lucia is a beautiful island. All resorts are good really - the Island is small enough to drive around in a day [just] so no matter where you stay you can go off and explore. I strongly recommend that you budget for a rented car [defiantly a 4x4, Daihatsu Terios is the norm] and go off to all the hot spots, as well as the hidden beaches and waterfalls.

You will not be disappointed.

Hi,

I have to say that I was bowled over by St. Lucia, I love it and we are looking at returning again in October! Agree you must hire a car, preferably a 4x4 as the roads are not great. I think we just about covered everything on the island. We stayed in Rodney Bay and had many good restaurants within walking distance and the fantastic Reduit Beach. You must visit Marigot Bay - can recommend JJ's a good restaurant bar with a swimming pool in the restaurant area! We took a guided island day tour by jeep which included a sightseeing tour of the island taking in Castries, Anse Le Raye, Canaries, Soufriere, a 3 hour rain forest hike with a stop at waterfall for a bit of swimming and lunch was included on the beach at Soufriere. I think this cost around US$90 each which was pretty good value. Castries market is fascinating and the best restaurant in Castries was definitely the Coalpot, well worth a visit. We took a boat trip to Pigeon Island which has a nice beach and some nice walking trails. We also visited the Diamond Botanical Gardens at Soufriere which are beautiful. We spent alot of time at Spinnakers restaurant bar which is right on Reduit Beach - fantastic spot to watch the sunset. I could go on forever, but all in all it is a fantastic place and I can't wait to go back! If you want any more info please let me know.

Thanks for the replies, we are off in two weeks, Barbados first, then St Lucia, we have changed our hotel to the Almond Morgan Bay which seems to be in a better position.
