| Hi can anyone help with info on the hotels in Taba Heights - sometimes they seem too cheap to be true. There is currently a really good offer on for the Raddison SAS Hotel at Taba but having stayed at the Grand Azur in Sharm, I feel a little apprehensive about going back to Egypt although the people and weather were more than great. Any thoughts please?

| Hi Patsy,
Why so apprehensive?
The N. Sinai Red Sea resorts are all expanding and whilst they are it gives us the chance of really good deals!
I've done Cairo, Luxor and Sharm several times and for this Christmas and New Year we're off to Nuweiba. Unbelieveable price! Taba is certainly on my list of places to try soon. Make the most of it whilst it lasts.
Regards,
Roger.

| I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Taba Heights last September. Although there is nothing there and the airport is far from fully finished we had a great time. There is a great deal of building going on and apart from trips we stayed on the complex as there was no shopping facilities out of the resort. The hotel and the beach was good and also the amenities were excellent. If you are looking for total relaxation then Taba is ok. If you want to venture further from the resort then go somewhere where they are more tourist orientated.

| Please, please, please consider carefully going to the Radisson in Taba.
I arrived back yesterday and it was hell on earth. I too had read the reviews but went with the best of intentions of taking it at face value.
At face value...
Food poor = diarrhoea (both my partner and I still have it since the third day)
Pool filthy and unable to get a lounger due to the hotel being so over subscribed.
5 star = 3 to 3 1/2 star (confirmed by our Libra rep as misrepresentation on Imperial Travels part) and ABTA told me today they have it shown by the Radisson themselves as a 4 star)
Learn how to take your towels to breakfast... laying them down on the beach or by the pool as you go. You will not get anywhere to sunbathe otherwise. I have never done this in my puff and I would not expect it of a 5 star!
This is the tip of the iceberg and am about to launch into a huge complaint against the holiday company regarding this.
Only good things... nice well mannered Egyptians and turtles!
Really wish I could give better news but would not go there ever again. I have been to sharm el sheik which is miles better so nothing to do with the Egyptian thing. Just very poor.
Jems :o)

| I stayed here last year, August 2003. It was new then and found it really nice. It was busy but the room was nice, comfortable, clean and roomy. The food was nice, buffet style with decent wine etc and the staff were nice.
The Dive centre nearby where I learnt to dive was excellent.
I am really sad that you (Jems) had an disappointing holiday.
I hope this does not put you off Egypt, its a great place.

| I have nt stayed at the Raddisson SAS Taba but have driven by many times. It should be well equipped and comfortable, in a very beautiful location with outstanding views, albeit very isolated ( great if you do want peace and quiet ), being located on the Taba - Nuweiba road.
The jorney time from Taba airport should be around 45 minutes I would imagine and hopefully you'll arrive during the day time because the scenery is quite amazing. If you are there at the end of October watch out for the lunar eclipse on the early morning of the 28th.
Don't blame always the food for tummy upsets - can be the tap water, pool water and, as often is the case, the local beer.
Enjoy !
