I am hoping to stay at this accomodation at the end of September for 2 weeks, there will be 7 adults, 3 kids and 2 infants.
I was almost ready to book until I read some reviews!!!
Can anybody give me any up to date information on this place, I.e. if I book with first choice to stay at the ocean palace do I have to worry about being moved to somewhere called nogal beach or similar?
This will be the first time we have been All Inclusive in Europe, my family are big and fussy eaters and not all the food reviews seem to be that great??
Also, I am hoping the lack of water supplies was a temporary situation, I cant stand the thought of being unable to shower!
Any replies are appreciated, and if anyone could give me an idea of how far the beach and town centre, shopping etc. is, that would be great too.
Thank you.

hi havent stayed at this hotel but on the map i have supplied you can see your quite away from the beach and popular areas of the resort.
so it looks like a lot of walking or taxis, there is local bus services that run by your hotel it might pay you to look into that because you could catch the bus to los cristianos and walk along the front to veronicas strip and get a taxi back, just a thought, tom.

I know which reviews you are referring to, the ones from xmas and New Year where the hotel was overbooked and the party was split up into different hotels, I think it was a large party who went.
I think this was maybe down to the time of year as it is particularly busy at xmas and new year.
Unfortunatley we dont know who overbooked the rooms whether it was the tour op or the hotel.
I know that hotel is a bit far out from the main areas, when we stayed in tenerife last in 2001 we stayed at a hotel called the Ocean Beach Aparthotel and it was really nice aparthotel we was sc but you could do what you want ie hb or eat their when you fancied it only. I know First Choice still do this hotel but its now called Villa Adeje Beach aparthotel it is now painted a yucky green colour and used to be a nice terracota colour but i imagine its still good inside and there are plenty of pools etc
I also remember it was really cheap to eat out at the sea front restaurants nearby too.We prefer SC to AI

thanks to both of your replies. I think I am going to look into it a bit more before i book! i thought all inclusive would be a good idea, especially having children and wanted somewhere with as good kids club and evening entertainment as the ocean resort is supposed to have.
i will get there, i'm sure!

All inclusives can mean school canteens , queing for things for ages and repetative food. Personally I would only do an AI if it was at a bargain last minute price only. There is a lot to be said for eating out in the local restaurants , its part of the holiday for us meeting locals and sharing our wealth rather than giving it all to one Hotel Chain owner etc.
We have used kids clubs before too but if there is none in a hotel it doesnt matter because there is lots to do and you generally meet lots of people and make friends with other families. A lot of hotels have their own entertainment and mini disco style stuff for kiddies.

We stayed in the Ocean Palace in February, 2007, worst holiday we have ever had. Please read my review.
I think it depends on which floor you stay on wheather you get water or not!! Obviously after reading some of the reviews again it looks like the water problem stilll has not been looked into.
The beach, restaurants etc are within walking distance, I would say about 10mins. No bus passes the Ocean Palace. The Ocean Palace is at the top of a hill, going down is fine, it's walking back thats the problem, if your fit that's fine.
It does annoy me those people who say they don't know why people complain about the Ocean Palace! If you read my review you'll know why we didnt like it there.
Also, If our complaint wasnt justified then how come the rep willingly filled in a complaint form and agreed with us about the problems, we also received a 50 voucher from First Choice. Although First Choice did say they had had no complaints before? I know why, because most people don't bother to complain because they can't be bothered. If everyone complained then maybe the problems would be solved, and people wouldnt have to put pen to paper.
Rant over.
