I intend to join the Emerald in October '08.
I'm told that the boat has internet access via PCs in the library.
However, I need to use my laptop for occasional internet access to update a website.
While I'm told that this is possible my worry is will I get technical support to get my laptop connected.
(I had no problem on other cruise ships as they had wireless hot spots on board and a technical person to set me up)
Anyone had any experience of using their laptop on the Emerald?

Internet Access with Laptop
Hi There
I've never been on emerald, but on the other thomson ships there is no WiFi access, therefore the only way to get internet access is via their PC's which are hugely expensive.
Do what many other people do - when the ship is in port, it is typically surrounded by other cruise liners, which offer free WiFi - roam for a connection and piggy back off their free feed!
Failing that, find a McDonalds or Starbucks or somewhere similar in the port and use their WiFi connection.

Thanks r00ssyb0y
I dont intend to be online much, so I'm hoping they let me connect in my laptop as I need to use the programmes on that to upload to my website.
I'll have a try at picking up a WiFi connection in port, but my previous experience on a Cruise ship is that WiFi access was charged for and one needed logon access.
I hope I dont have to roam around looking for somewhere ashore as my wife wont be overjoyed at that.
