Thomson Emerald
first time i have been on a cruise food good variety and plenty of it the crew always helpful and always doing something to spruce up the ship.took out the all inclusive drinks package well worth it if you drink alot especially spirits and cocktails and most of the spirits are brand names.here are a couple of things you might find useful which we found out. if you want to go ashore by yourself use the lower gang way used by the crew on lower level hardly anyone uses it and its saves having your guts moved up and down by a heavy weight on the upper gang way .if you are going to venice dont book a tour you can walk about half an hour it is expensive but if you leave it to late marks square gets crowded and you will end up in a long line .the other thing to remember is that your bags are collected on the evening of your departure small bags can be left in another area so pack a small bag for you clothes etc the day befor you depart
apart from that the emerald is very good value for money if you dont want to mix you dont have to

Hiya Deco36
You can read all the good reviews with techies link so I will just point out a few facts.
Like all Thomson ships they are getting old & are quite small by todays standards & are looking a little weary, you will get a great crew, reasonable food & good intineraries, & above all a great price.
So really its about what are you looking for?
All cruises now are getting cheaper, you can cruise on the Queens for almost the same price as say OV. with Thomson about the cheapest, that said, it certainly is one of the best lines for first timers & those wanting a laid back cruise, and even long term cruisers like us.(going on the Spirit next week, our 8th thomson cruise.)
Apart from the few times they have either broken down or not sailed then without doubt offer value for money, and in the main very friendly passengers.

Cruising is like 'Being in the Garden of Eating'
