Visiting Venice on The Emerald
Whats the easiest way to see Venice in a day. We are going on the Thomson Emerald on 15th August. Have been to Venice before but not by boat. How far away are the water boats from where the ship docks.

About 100 yards, Vaporetto 11 Euros to ST Marks Sq. Don't bother with Thomsons 'private launch' tour.

Visiting Venice on The Emerald
Hi There, we did the same cruise a year ago and decided to do our own thing. We did have a very long wait queuing for a ticket before we could get on a water taxi as there was a huge number of italian tourists who arrived just before us. Think we waited about 3/4 of an hour for a ticket. Once on the taxi it's pretty straightforward and we enjoyed just walking about. We found Venice very crowded though, especially St Mark's Square. We decided to go on a gondola but it's very very expensive (we paid 120 euros for 3), wish we'd done the Thomson excursion as it worked out much cheaper. Good day out though, have fun!

Visiting Venice on The Emerald
Hi,
we are going on the same cruise and were also wondering how to do this - we have cruised before and know from experience that it is sometimes next to impossible not to get the organized transfers - although they are such rip-offs!!!
What we sometimes did was share a cab with some fellow travellers, that usually works out the cheapest.
Maybe we'll meet on the ship
