Hi Bo, act on the tickets now. Last year - fed up with not being able to book a Thomson cruise via their site (problems with needing a post code which we do not have in Ireland) I booked through Thomas Cook here in Dublin - way in advance. Two weeks before the cruise no tickets. Thomas Cook said that if they were not there with a week to go I should contact them again. No tickets a week before and I insisted they phone Thomsons. They were told that the tickets had issued about two weeks before that but not to worry they would ensure that new tickets issued and I could collect them at Luton Airport. I had to fly to Luton the night before the cruise and went to the Thomson desk to be told that there were no tickets there but to call back the following morning and they would issue them. Not the best start to a cruise. The following day the flight was to be around 7.30am so I was up and out of the hotel and waiting at the airport for the Thomson desk to open at about 4am. Still no tickets. I had about a 30 minute wait while the girl on the desk made phone calls, checked my receipts, reference numbers etc. Eventually she issued a handwriten ticket which, when I went 100 yards away to check in, caused problems at the desk. Apparently hand written tickets went out with the ark. OK I got on the flight and on the ship but I spent the two weeks wondering how the check in agents in Thessaloniki would cope. Luckily they were so understaffed and mobbed with flights checking in that the had only a few questions. So do act now. Its not just the tickets and the stress there is that nice little booklet that Thomson do which gives information about the cruise, excursions, new rules (such as non smoking this year) and the luggage tags - I was not only afraid that I would not get on the fight but terrified that the case would go astray. Hi Marie
Just got throught to Thomsons who said to pick up tickets at airport, dont you think it is absolutly scandlous the amopunt of money you pay them, they have had lots of time to send these out, I have just emailed them and asked them to send them out 1st class by post as they still have time. They soon take the money off you. Hope they arrive tomorrow, getting stressed about it. Someone there should be in trouble for not doing there job properly surely someone is responsible for this. Its just a cop out saying pick them up If I had booked a late deal for next to nothing I could understand, but to book a cruise and then this to happen its not on.

I have had a rant but I am sooooo mad

Hi Bo, Hope it all works out. My problem was that I told all the idiots (not really idiots) at work and they were starting to bet on whether or not I would be back at work the following day. Hope you have a ball. If you see Babis (waiter - he is retiring this year), Francis and Fletcher, Natalyia and Tasha, George (head waiter) and the darling M'd say hi from me - Irish woman, travelling alone, was on last year - they should remember me. I did think I would be back in October for another trip on the Calypso but I have now found a great deal on an in-depth trip to the Middle East and I have booked that (not a cruise). I will however be back next June and October. Will do a review for Quizzer and anyone else who has not been on the Calypso over the next few days - a bit manic at work since I got back. Regards Marie

That dont sound good Nanabo really hope everything works out for you there.
We booked a very late deal to Algarve last year (4 days before we travelled!) but on a small website and were told to pick tickets up at airport
We got there and...yes,no tickets! stress levels thru roof!!
They eventually found us on 'the system' and everything worked out ok in the end so i can well imagine how you must be feeling rite now. keep smilin and let us know how you get on :-)
Best of luck

Contacted Cruise Deals who have garanteed my tickets will be there to pick up, and have sent me another confirmation yesterday this will be three they have sent, so all I say if they are thinking of saving money by not sending tickets out then what the hell do they keep sending me confirmations out for. I explained that this hol was a surprise for hubbys birthday and wanted to place tickets in his birthday card and guess what? they said we will send out a confirmation for you to put in his card will that be Ok. I said if you can send confirmation out in time for departure then why not the tickets, she said in case they dont arrive on time. Can anyone make sence of that.

Cruise Deals / Thomsons. No more!!!!!!

Bo

Cruise Deals are don't have a clue about customer service and I don't understand why, if you book with Thomson on line, you have to be in touch with these people. For years I have booked with Thomson on line and through Irish travel agents with no problems. Last year year was my first problem and that was as a result of cruise deals. I know that booking on line and not having a post code etc can cause problems - unfamiliar accents etc. But some of the letters I have received from cruise deals - well all I can say is that some God was looking down on me the way they were addressed - name spelled wrong, street name and even the city. There is a real training issue with Cruise Deals.

The tickets will be there, your husband will be thrilled and you will have a great time - even being in the Eastern Med in 2 days time will lift your spirits given the weather here (I don't doubt it is also rubbish where you are). Have a ball
