beaches in aegean wonders cruise and Thessaloniki

Thank you for all the previous information.I am just wanting to know which of the ports visited have a beach within walking distance. Our aim is to sightsee in the morning then relax on a beach in the afternoon. Has anyone got any tips on what to see and do without going on a planned tour which we would hate. I have been to Santorini and Kusadasi so know how to get aroung there but Mykanos town, rhodes Town, and Aghios Nikolas are all new to me. We go in 10 days so not long now.
also is there any time to look round Thessaloniki at the start or end of the cruise. As much info as possible please

Hi Wends. My wife and I are booked on this cruise for the 11th Aug. I have not been to any of the ports except Thessaloniki but we have done a bit of research and it looks like there is a beach within walking distance of most of the ports. Mykonos docks Tourlos, just outside of Hora, shuttles will be waiting to take you to the edge of town (a 3-minute ride). If you'd like to walk, it takes about 30 minutes from ship to town. Our flight gets in late and leaves early so we will not be able to see any of Thessaloniki.

Hi we have never been on a cruise before but as we were looking for a holiday to Santorini this came up so we decided to give it a whirl. Quite excited now. we have booked cabin 612 on calypso deck , how about you .How have you found out about the info on the ports ? i have tried on the internet but not had much luck.where are you flying from? we fly from Manchester so arrive about 3 pm i think. not sure if we have to go to the boat then. As we are new to cruising we have no idea how these things work. Just looking forward to exploring new areas and returning to magical Santorini again. I went to a wedding there last year and cant wait to show it to my other half Pete. My name is Wendy but my sons call me wends so thats why i am called that on here. Are you called I never tan for that reason or is that a silly question? Maybe our paths will cross on the cruise you never know, i will just look for the person withou a tan. Ha Ha

Hi Wends. I found the info on a site at http://www.cruisecritic.co.uk/ports/newport.cfm?ID=210
I also had a look at some maps I found on the internet.
We have only just booked and we don't know what cabin we're in but as long as it's got some beds in we don't mind. We are flying from Bristol and we land about 8.30pm. We have been on a couple of Thomson cruises before and we were picked up at the airport and taken straight to the ship where you check in and can go to your cabin. But if you're anything like us you will head straight for the buffet. If you have time you can then do as you please as long as you're back on board before the ship leaves. We booked because we wanted to see some more of Greece. We didn't really want to do a cruise but it was such good value and it sounds not too formal which we wanted. It also stops at the ports for a full day so we will have plenty of time to look around.
We are really looking forward to the holiday and Santorini looks beautiful. We have wanted to go there for a while but have not got around to it.
I never get a tan but just go red. So just look for the person in the buffet that has sunburn.

Hi we have just booked as well and like you were not really looking for a cruise. we just chose a cabin as i am terrible at travelling light so to keep the peace opted for a little more space. You will love Santorini, its really easy to get around, there is a bus which takes you to Kamari on the beach and also up to Oia but Thira is amazing, Some of the bars are high up overlooking the caldera and the sunset is spectacular. I will look at the website you have been using for some more info on the ports of call. Here is to a happy week on the calypso. i will look out for a red man and say hello.
