| My family and I are booked on a calypso cruise around the southern greek islands in August 2008. We were asked if we wished to book a drinks package costing about £140 for each adult but it sounded expensive to me.
Can anyone tell me the cost of wine and spirts on board if purchased individually ?
Also, are soft drinks and tea / coffee available free during the day ?
Appreciate any help with this enquiry.

| Hi Tina,
Welcome to holiday watchdog and the cruise forum.
Without going into to much detail, the ball park average for drinks is like your local, soft drinks are included in package as are most standard common drinks, specialty drinks, some cocktails, and beers are extra, as is some coffees. Wine by the glass is included but not by the bottle. Tea & coffee are available in the buffet almost 24/7.
We like a drink before diner and wine with also perhaps three or four during most evenings, between us for seven days our bar bill is about £300/350
So at £140 not a bad deal at £179 just about break even for us.
Hope this helps. All members of your family or group has to be AI, underage drinkers are checked at point of sale by your shipboard card.

| Hi- if you don't take the drinks package, you can get mugs of tea and coffee freely all day from the buffet restaurant, also chilled water. All other soft drinks have to be paid for (except juice at breakfast). Last year a bottle of wine was about £11, and if you don't want to drink it all they will save it for you. We missed out on the free package last year and decided not to pay for the AI. We both enjoy a drink but neither of us drinks spirits, just beer, wine and the cocktails. We didn't drink £140 worth each, so it was right for us. Also, you are off the ship for quite a large part of each day. Hope you have a great cruise,
