Sharm Airport

Just arrived back from Sharm and the Red Sea Cruise on 4th Jan 07. On arrival at the Sharm airport we were told to go straight to the departure lounge as our boarding cards had been arranged by the ship the previous day, well what can I say!! the crowds of people waiting with luggage was absolutly diabolical.

Once inside the building we were shoved around like cattle, most of the egyption staff were smoking and shouting to hurry you through the passport control. Once we got through there we were met by more crowds with no were to sit, so we went in the duty free shop and bought some booze, and waited to be served by another smoking assistant, the shop was full of smoke everyone coughing and spluttering.

The screen showed we were boarding so we got in a queue, by then everyone was standing shoulder to shoulder you could not possibly get anyone else in. We waited and waited for an hour then it came up delayed, everyone was moaning and shouting.

About half an hour later a voice came over the tanoy saying Attention !!! Attention!!! NO SMOKING in departure lounge everyone started to laugh we thought it was a joke, but no he meant it. Half an hour later while still standiing in queue it came on screen that the flight had departed, again everyone started to laugh. No one was explaing what was happening. The doors eventually opened and we made our way to the terminal bus.

Once on the plane we were told that the airport had shut down because the presedent oif Israel had visited and as this is a military airport we had to stay inside the building untill the president had left.

What a day, I must say it will put a lot of people off going back to Sharm. As there is a lot of building work going on in Sharm they are going to need a much larger Airport to accomodate the tourists. We got home safe and well, but we laugh about it now especially when telling our friends.

Ahh the joys of Sharm Airport...no other airport like it!!!!

You must have arrived on a Thursday...thats the day the President comes down from Cairo for the weekend.

But all said and done I would not let the chaos at the airport put me off my holiday in Sharm

I go back for the second time in March........can't wait

Yeh sharm airport is bad but something has to be bad on ya holidays and im glad its that ... we fly on sundays 3rd time in Feb

Sharm's airport is apalling (especially as it's newish)... but the Red Sea Magic cruise is soooo amazing that it was 100% worth it!

i just got back from red sea magic on the celebration cruise on 16th april it was ace ..i wud defo go back agen..great showteam ..fit men.!!!
