Thompson Celebration

Our family of 4 were on the Celebartion in May 2005. The ship was floating health hazzard. The toilets backflushed raw sewage into many cabin. There was water leaking everywhere. There were buckets all over the ship to catch water, some dripping through light fittings. One of the bars was flooded. The cinema was out of order for the duration onbaord. Some decks had no hot water. Some decks had no air conditioning. The laundry was closed for the duration of the cruie, which was abandoned after 4 days. The ship vibrated severely from top to bottom, it also lurched and lunged so much that you were actually moved on your bed. This was in a calm sea. Never got a nights sleep. The captain was a patronising bastard, and kept a low profile. The admin staff were nice, but clueless. We got a full refund and 25% off another Thompson cruise - not bloody likely. I can get 50% discount and over booking early, late or online. Thompson whitewashed the whole thing, mainly by telling lies. I sent them two letters, they replied to neither.
I would STRONGLY recommend NEVER going on this ship [wreck].

All I can say is that things have improved on the Celebration since that unfortnate incident. I've just returned from the Celebration and had a great time! The ship is showing signs of age (it was built in 1984 or 1985) but this adds to the character. There is noise and a vibration but after a few hours you barely notice it. It certainly didn't stop me getting any sleep!

There is a new (British) captain in charge now and he is a great bloke. Took time to explain to the passengers what was going on and always smiled and spoke nicely. Thomsons must have listened to their customers and sorted out any niggling issues!
