1st time on a cruise help on electrical items
Hi Rosie,
I'm going on Destiny in a few weeks and also Jan 11th 09 for 2 weeks in the Caribbean.
You will need an american plug socket adapter for charging your cameras, phones, etc,.
The best currency for the Caribbean is US dollars as they are used everywhere there.
I hopes this helps,
Rachel.

Re: 1st time on a cruise help on electrical items
The current on all Thomson ships and a lot of others is 110 volt and flat American two pin plugs. Adaptors will allow an electrical item to work but only if they is dual voltage. A lot of travel appliances are dual voltage but check just in case. For your phone, just bring it with the charger to guest relations and they will charge it free of charge. If your item is not dual voltage then you will require a transformer as an adaptor just allows for the change of configuration of the socket but does not impact on voltage.

Re: 1st time on a cruise help on electrical items
We where on the Destiny in October and found that charging phones/camera batteries etc took ages to do in the cabin. So most of the time we just took them to the Reception, and they would charge them at no extra cost. All they ask is your cabin number and for you to sign a form when leaving the item and then a signature when collecting them. We used to do it when we where going for Dinner or seeing a show, which usually was enough time to charge them. Hope this helps

Hi Rosie,
I along with my wife and another couple will be on the Destiny 8th Feb 2009.
We were on the Destiny Feb 2008 and had no problem recharging phones/camcorders. As already said, you need 110-230v chargers, which most are these days. Worth checking them out now.
Look forward to seeing you on board
Geoff
