Thomson Spirit - any news about most recent refurbishment?

Hi, travelling on the Spirit in April and really looking forward to it. Was last on board in Sept. 06 and it was then badly in need of its refit. Looked shabby and had unfixed plumbing problems. Expected it to now be looking ok again; however, some of the reviews don't sound too promising. It seems that it still looks shabby, in need of redecorating and has a serious problem with vibration. This can't be right can it? Can anyone please reassure me and let me know if it really has been recently refitted. We've booked a suite this time thinking we were going to have a fab holiday - now not so sure. Thanks, Yuchna.

I am booked on the Spirit on 2nd May and was advised when I booked that the Spirit was not out of her refit until early April so I wonder if the reviews you read may of been previous to the refit? Hope so as I don't fancy a vibrating boat! Am looking forward to cruising on a newly refurbished ship.

we have been twice on the spirit before,2005,and 2006 and the vibration was bad then and getting worse,booked again this year and was assured before booking that vibration would be sorted in re-fit, so we will wait and see what happens when she comes out in april,i am sure the cruise reviews will tell us,so keep your fingers crossed for a vibration free cruise.

just read your review,but the one thing everyone would want to know,
has the vibration been sorted.and has much changed after refit

Hi, just got back from the Middle East Cruise on the Spirit. We had a great time - but for those people wishing to know outcome of the refit and importantly whether or not it still vibrtates..... much cleaner, even going so far as changing all the mattresses every week. We stayed in a lovely suite midship on the 8th deck and while all was lovely in the cabin, the vibration from the engine was still very noticeable - sorry to tell you all this. So, even after the really great re-fit the vibration has not gone away!! Despite that, we all had a brilliant trip - food was great, and the shows seemed more professional than 2 years ago. Staff always helpful and all in all great value for money .

Agree about the vibe. She has a strange side to side motion when in port on auxillary engines, then other times certain sections of the ship bob up & down as tho doing a fast trot on a horse! At other times, there is nothing discernable; really odd! Won't stop us going again tho.

Could be having its proper refit next winter as it doesn't start the red sea until march, a bit late as i was going to go in february half term!! But by what ppl have been saying it's probabily had something small done to it.
