I cruised on the Destiny in April around the Canaries which was fine, I am now looking to book a Med cruise and have the option of either the destiny or celebration. Can anybody advise which is the better option! We are a married couple in our late 40's.
Thanks

Hi Boozer,
Really nothing to choose between the two, Destiny just slightly larger with 1450 passengers against Celebrations 1250, other than that not much difference.
When choosing a cruise your best bet is firstly study all the itineraries in the area you would like to see, then choose the cruise line.
With the Med, you have a big choice of ships some of which are Princess, Thomson, Island Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Costa all of whom will give you value for money.
Best way of finding out is to visit one of the web-based sites like 1st4cruising and put in various companies after naming Med as destination. Also a good indicator of cruises is the Saturday Daily mail which gives late deals as well as next year offers, while also giving ports of call.

Boozer,
Forgot to mention Ocean Village if you like casual cruises and no fixed dinning.

If you are looking for basic cabins, the ones on Celebration (14 sq mtrs) are considerably larger than the ones on Destiny (11 sq mtrs).
Celebration is slightly more spacions - 27 tonnes per passenger instead of 26. Celebration also carries 200 fewer passengers. Celebration also has a dedicated 230 seat cinema (in addition to the in room movie channels).
Aside from that, the Berlitz ratings are very similar.

Been on both - this is what I think.
Best for:
Cabins - Celebration - double bed in deluxe cabin
Dining Experience - Destiny (I prefer fixed sittings and love lunch al fresco)
Entertainment - Destiny hands down!!
Gym - Celebration
Photographers - Destiny
Reception - Destiny
Bars - Celebration
Bar Staff - Destiny
Swimming Pool - Destiny
Quiet areas - Celebration
As you can see not that much to choose between them. I would check out the itineries - if they are identical then go for the cheapest! If you fancy a deluxe cabin the supplement is usually cheaper on Celebration.

we sailed on the Destiny in March and found it fifne, apart from the weather, but in my opinion the Celebration is my favourite Thomson ship. They have an excellent self service restaraunt with is great in the day and is laid differently ,e.g. candles etc for the evenings. Hope this is of help to you. We are a couple of very young 60 's

Hiya
we sailed around the med on the celebration in June. Havnt been on the destiny but loved the celebration, great food, nice selection of bars and good entertainment. its an old ship but was spotless.
its was out honeymoon and at 32 and 39 we were one of the youngest couples on board but it was adults only week so probably attracted more older people. personally i loved the fact that it was adults only, regardless of the adults age.
im sure you will have a great time whatever you choose.

Hello Mrs Jane,
So how was it? lets hear about most of your cruise when you have time.

Hi Tenpin
Well what can i say exept we loved it. I have submitted a review but its not been posted yet.
After getting married and moving house we were shattered when we arrived in Palma so we took a ride on a house and carriage which was lovely, very expensive but it was our honeymoon.
We were in the Neil Armstroing Suite on board and it was lovely and spotless. I made my Husband get dressed up on a night and got my posh dresses out, we spent alot of our time in Explorers Louge which was our fvourite and they was a great waiter called Eugene who really looked after us. We ate so much I put half a stone on in just a week. On our last night we went in Mistral's which was worth every penny.
Our Highlights were the Captains Cocktail Party, we were sat with the ships Manager and met four other great couples who were all celebrating, and the Trip to Pompeii was fab, i even won the bingo the first and only time i played it.
The only downside is we had our digital camera stolen on board and we cant replace those photos we lost. but i guess this can happen anywhere.
We will definalty be cruising again though, we thought we woud do it every other year, we havnt got the time or money to be a professional like you
. We are going to Las Vegas next year then hoping to cruise the year after, there is so many places to see. Chris fancies Norway or Iceland, anywhere cold.
Regards
