19th October Cruise - Colourful Coasts
Hi there, my husband and I went on the thomson Topaz around the canaries a few years ago. we had a Fantastic time, marvellous staff, really friendly, all of them and we made some great friends with some of the other cruisers too. Although the Topaz was really old and in need of a refit we were able to ignore all that and enjoy the cruise. I haven't been on the Destiny but if the staff try as hard on that ship as the Topaz you will both have a great time. fionat

Hi Bettyboop we are leaving our 4 children behind as well though they are able to look after themselves [eldest 22- youngest 16] but they all still live at home so it will be like heaven to have some peace for a week! You must have enjoyed yourself on the Emerald if you are doing another Thomson cruise. We are on the Manchester flight at 10.20! Its so exciting when its something you havent done before. Lots of tips already on here but wondered what yours are regarding What to wear? Are there ironing faclilites as non are allowed in cabins? We are all inclusive but i know you have to pay supplement for some things, are the prices in sterling or euros? Really worried about seasickness as i have had problems with this on smaller boats. Realised a few weeks back that this is actually half term for some school children so hope we are not going to be overun! Oh dear i sound like such a moaner i am looking forward to it really. Cant wait!!!

we travelled on Destiny last year in November and we had a great time weather was fine not at all choppy if anything we had rougher seas in the med in August this year on the same ship. All the prices on the ship are sterling, also the all inclusive drinks package is excellent with most drinks included especially the cocktails I think i tried most of them.Unfortunately its quite expensive to have items pressed or drycleaned,so we just hung our creased clothes in the shower room as the steam helped get creases out of the clothes.Have a lovely holiday its a wonderful ship with lots of character.

Thanks! Can't wait. Was the Lido buffet very cold and breezy when you were on this ship in the Canaries last November? I keep reading that it's cold, especially in the evenings. Did you find it cold?
Have you seen the all inclusive drinks list ?

This is supposed to be for the Celebration.......but some people think it might be for the Destiny too.......can you confirm???

Hello chilli
no there are no ironong facilities we just hung our clothes up as soon as we got there you can have them pressed but it is expensive
What to wear you can wear almost what you like or what you feel comfy in me personally i dont go for cocktail or long evening gowns some do but that is just not me i think thats a little over dressing only my own view though
We are not doing the all inclusive drinks package simply because when we went on the emerald our drinks only came to 190 for the week and we had plenty plus my husband's favourite drinks is not included on the package and neither is mine so we didnt think it would be worth while. I know it's half term but when we went on the emerald it was school holidays there were a few small children on but not many it was the teenagers that we a pain in the bu** jumping in and out of jacuzzi but they were soon told off by a member of staff and everything was ok from then on nothing to spoil your holiday over.
we are flying from newcastle at 4pm only flight left as we have only just booked the cruise, sea sickness well i only got it a little bit once coming out of turkey it was just swaying a little as i suffer from vertigo it was not at all bad i took a tablet from reception and was fine from then on never felt ship move at all any other time though.what deck are you on we are on 6 inside only one left will try upgrade to outside when we get there though my husband likes a view dont know why i personally are not bothered dont spend much time in your cabin anyway

Sorry for late reply been away for a few days. Thanks for all the information you have provided really usefull. We are on deck 4/5 inside cabin. All inclusive was a freebie at time of booking and i am an ex travel agent so i like to get a good deal! Feel a bit more reassured about sea sickness but gonna take all the tablets just to be on the safe side. Personally we quite enjoy dressing up so will probably bring one cocktail dress for Captains Dinner. Two weeks today not that im counting or anything hopefully ill see you there!

I'd love to hear reports from both of you when you get back! We're going a few weeks later on the 9th November.
