Baggage allowance
We go on the Destiny for 2 weeks from 17th July. The baggage allowance is only 20kg. Hard to pack for 2 weeks especially if I have to pack the DJ etc. Does anyone have any advice and experience of how hard Thomson are on the weight alowance - or any advice on packing light!

According to the brochure it should be 25kg check in and 5kg carry on. Maybe this applies to Thomsonfly flights only and you might be using another airline with a smaller allowance?

Thanks for the comments. It seems from their web site that the total allowance is 25kg of which up to 10kg can be carried on board.
They say 'Each passenger may take up to 10kg of hand luggage on board, although the combined total of hand and checked-in luggage may not exceed 25kg for each passenger without extra weight charges being levied.'
I'm using the lightest case I can find and hope I can stay within the limits!

Why don't you pack for a week and then make use of the laundry service for your evening wear. We went for a week and to be honest lived in swimwear and shorts throughout the day. We only dined at the Seven Seas on one occasion and that was the Captains Gala dinner. I suppose it depends on how often you intend eating at the Seven Seas and whether you want to dress formally on each visit.
For one week's holiday my husband and I shared one suitcase and managed to take a range of clothes including two formal outfits each!! If you and your wife have a suitcase each, then you should just about manage. I was told to be really strict on the amount of shoes I could take!!!
Good luck and enjoy, we had a fab time on the Destiny back in June.

Baggage allowance
Packing list for a male - 14 days going 'formal'
Dinner Jacket and trousers
formal shoes
2 formal dress shirts - do not wash in ships laundry
cummerbund, bow tie and pocket squares
2 pairs informal trousers
2 pairs shorts
sandals? - yuk
deck shoes
9 shirts for day wear
9 shirts for the evenings
underwear, socks etc etc
Use the on ship laundry service to cut down on the number of shirts etc, the cost probably less than buying shirts and no one will notice you wearing everything twice.
the carry on for your documents, medications, camers, binoculars etc.
all this should fit in your 55lb allowance (real weights), plus the stuff you wear to travel is not weighed!

After 60+ cruises my check list for both the wife and I is as follows.
Put what you think you need on the bed, leave it for half a hour, then put half back in wardrobe. leave for a further hour, put half of the remainder away.
Pack rest in suitcase and wiegh, job done.
