1st time cruiser, please tell me normal dress code (i.e. do many people wear nice jeans, casual shirts or dress smart?)
i am mid 30's and travelling with fiancee and wondered if many couples on board around that age or are most retired?
i am outside cabin 2/3, is it worth prebooking cabin near front as presume engines and noise are near rear?
anyone else going on cruise 4th Jan 2008?
regards,
John & Emma.

colourfull coasts 1st time cruiser with many questions!
Hi Nofear
Have a look at some of my posts. We pre booked 3062 and were glad we did.
To be honest I felt a little underdressed. I wore cropped trousers and tops at night, but not really fancy ones. I wish I'd taken some dressier things. I didn't wear jeans at night but I did see a few others wearing them. No reason why not, but I felt jeans weren't worn by many and I never wore mine. I'm 33, and we mainly met slightly older couples. You meet people at dinner (same group) and then at breakfast if you go to Seven Seas they will sit you with people. Nice to have an early morning chat with some new people!
If you have any more questions, just ask!

colourfull coasts 1st time cruiser with many questions!
Hi John and Emma
I am so jealous, having a cruise to look forward to after xmas.
we went on the Thompson celebration for our honeymoon in June 07, our first cruise and definalty not our last.
Im 40 my husband is 33, and most people were older than us, most of the people our age were with parents, but we did meet a couple of couples honeymooning like us.
I would take some smart clothes but if your comfortable in jeans, wear them my husband did. We did however mainly eat in the buffett which is more casual. I would suggest you get more dressed up if eating in the restaurant, you can always nip back to the cabin and get changed after.
Most importantly have a faboulous time
Jane

Colourful Coasts - First Time Cruiser With Many Questions
Thanks for replies so far,
tried to book cabin after being told by Thomson sales agent that i have to ring cabin number during day only to be told that i couldn't as less than 2 weeks to cruise- heres hoping i get a nice cabin near front of deck 3!!
think i'll take some smart jeans and i'll wash some of my golf trousers (YSL) which are smart and take them as i only wear jeans mainly nowadays!
only concern is the weight allowance, not sure if i get 20kg or less, i didnt pay for the 17.50 5kg upgrade but if i have to take warm clothes for night and summer clothes it may be difficult to fit all in.
looking forward to my 1st cruise, didnt have time for more than a week so canaries was the only option really with warm weather. decided years ago that i won't go over the pond for anything less than 10 days, time difference and travel just too much for 1 week.
anyone who wants a 2 week cruise i've noticed you can go next week for the same as 1 week nearly (approx 550 pp), bargain....
regards,
John.

Colourful Coasts - First Time Cruiser With Many Questions
Hi John
Ive been on the destiny about 5 times and my parents have been 12, how sad are we! My fiancee has booked us for the 4th jan and this will be his first time cruising, we are also mid 30,s. My parents booked the day after and we all had the deal you mentioned. Dress code i would recommend trousers and shirt every evening to dine in the seven seas restaurant and a suit/ jacket and tie for the captains dinner, as for booking a cabin that is something we have never done and have always been pleased, as you can gather we keep returning to the destiny as we always have a good time and have met lots of people of whom we still keep in touch with and even have cruised with again since, Hope you enjoy your week, we may even see you on board.
