Destiny Cruise
Hi, my family and i are having a week on the destiny in october around the canary islands, and after reading many reviews on this ship, i am now quite concerned about the so called pitching and rolling of the ship, which they say can be quite bad even in reasonably calm waters. I would be grateful for any comments on this.

hi, just returned from destiny cruise around the med. the ship was fine all week with its movement until the tuesday when we set sail from italy to sardinia. it got pretty rough as soon as we reached open waters and we were advised that we would be going to corsica as the tenders used on sardinia would not come out as weather was bad.the ship did seem to pitch and roll a fair bit and many people were ill including my wife and daughter, i was most worried about bad motion sickness before we travelled but i was not to bad.if the ship does get like this when you go, all we found was to go and sit in the centre of the ship, perhaps near reception desk area as the movement seems not so rough. the cabin area during this time was really bad.saying all this it didnt spoil our holiday and im sure you will have a great time, if you do feel to unwell you can have an injection some people told us they did. hope you enjoy your holiday. best regards .JOHN

cheers for that, we have already sailed on the spirit and the celebration with no problems at all, so we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed for good weather

Hello, my family and i went on thr Destiny, when it was formerly the Sunbird, we had a fantastic time, we were on the last cruise before it went in for the refit and became the Thompson Destiny, having read a lot of review's it doesn't seem to be a lot of changes, we have booked the colour coasts cruise in November 2007, can anyone tell me if the rooms have changed very much, i remember ours being very cramped, it didn't really bother us to much at the time as we were only in the cabin to get changed and to sleep, we had an inside cabin, 3 people sharing. we didn't really experience any rough waters, (it was the Caribbean though) at night we just felt a very gentle rocking which actually was quite pleasant, AND does anyone know if "Angel" is still working on board, he was the head chef at the Lido restaurant, i think he was from the Phillopines, he really made our holiday special and it would be lovely to meet up with him again, kind regards Loobylou

Yeah i was victim to the destiny in a force 9 sea/gale. Quite unstable although the stabilisers were not put out much due to being unserviceable (apparently)
As a very experienced seaman told me one time ' a ship that creaks and goes with the waves means its at home with the sea'
Take some seasick pills (Stugeron - available in boots) with you just incase.

Angel is still onboard Destiny. He is Head Waiter in the Seven Seas restaurant. Sometimes at lunchtime he is looking after the Pool Grill and BBQ area.

Hi Knaggsy and Rachel_1978
My husband and me will be on the October 12th cruise from Tenerife, not quite sure what to expect but getting more good reviews than bad. We hope if nothing else to meet nice people and have a laugh, hope to meet you all there. Any hints and tips will be gratefully received.

Hi Gill and Steve,
I will be on the same cruise as you! I fly from Gatwick on October 12th to Tenerife to board the Destiny! So maybe I (and my family) will see you there!

For sea sickness I can recommend Avomine pills. They are readily available from most chemists.
