Destiny - October 19th cruisers??

Postby CHILLI on Sat Oct 27, 2007 8:27 pm

hi lc71
Got back about 10.00 last night absolutely exhausted! First chance ive had to log on. Well there is only one thing to say FANTASTIC FANTASTIC FANTASTIC!! Im soooo jeolous that you have still got yours to look forward to. Going to write a full review when ive got time but anything specific you need answering ask away. Forgot to bring drinks list home but all cocktails are available including Mojitos not sure about Capirinhas never seen any of them but its possible they had them because there were that many to choose from. Corona, Smirnoff ice etc you pay supplement of about 90 pence. Food was absolutely fantastic there seemed to be a vegetarian option at every meal but if you dont want to eat in Seven Seas the Lido has lots of options available day and night. Captains cocktail night was really formal with 90 percent of men in Tuxedos. We really enjoyed getting dressed up but if you really dont want to do it you can eat up in the Lido informally. Just a jacket and tie is sufficient for the men and dress or trousers for the women if you do want to be involved.
As i said earlier ask me any questions you want and ill try my best to answer them but unless you are a misery guts or someone who enjoys moaning your going to have a ball!

Oh thanks Chilli

Where do I start.......

Did you notice if Bailey's was on AI?
Did you notice what pasta they had (either in Seven Seas or Lido)?
Was the Lido freezing like people have said in reviews?
Was there pizza at the pool bar? Did they have Margherita?
How was your cabin - and what deck were you on?
Did you go ashore in Agadir?

LOL Ic74,

Sounds to me that you are getting excited about your forthcoming cruise.

Just to give you a taster of the answers,

Baileys and Mararita's (classic, peach or strawberry) are included in AI

and yes Pizza is available in the pool area.

I'm not half excited. We'll be on the boat in 2 weeks, we go on the Friday. I can't wait!!! We have a busy weekend next week so I could even justify getting the suitcases out just now.........

Hi lc74
Baileys is not on all inclusive package there is a 90 pence supplement also for any liquer coffees with Baileys in it.
There is a different pasta meal offered in seven seas every night as well as a salad dish and normally a vegetarian choice starter. Trust me you will not go hungry!
We had exceptionally hot weather so we were never cold in Lido although it was quite blowy so i would imagine if temperatures dropped it could get a bit chilly. Must admit we did have breakfast one morning in the Lido and it was quite cold but this was an exception.
Pool bar also offers fantastic choice serving Pizzas every day they also offer veggie option most days even when we had a deck barbeque they had corn on the cob and vegetable kebabs which were wonderful.
We were on deck 5 inside and although small was adequate and we really found it very cosy. It was 2 singles but our cabin steward pushed the beds together for us and made it up as a double it was really comfortable.
Did Touradant trip in agadir wouldnt say it was the most enjoyable experience but i certainly would not have missed it. Its one of those things something i wouldnt miss but would not like to repeat. Its certainly an eye opener and makes you realise how lucky you are. We didnt buy anything as i was too scared to be honest but would have loved to have a good look at all the beautiful things on sale in a safer environment. Everyone returned to the ship safely and no one had any horror stories to tell and a few people did venture out on there own so it cant be that bad really.
Really could not find many faults overall but if i had to the few litle niggles i had were inadequate amount of sunbeds espescially for day at sea when you could not get one for love nor money. To be fair to the crew they did go round removing towels from beds that had laid empty for a considerable amount of time.
Entertainment staff were extremely talented but i have got to say i found the shows a bit repetitive and boring at times maybe a bit to over rehearsed if anything and they lacked a bit of sparkle. But this could be just down to personal taste. There was certainly enough other stuff going on i.e game shows, quizzes, bingo[1500.00 jackpot on last day] to keep us more than amused.
Any more questions?

Wow, thanks!

Were there frozen cocktails - what cocktails did you try/like?

Did you go to the casino - do you know the minimums and what games they had etc?

Did you have a favourite bar, or did you move between them? Did any suit particular times of the day?

What meal sitting did you have - did you like which one you chose?

Any shows not to be missed?

Are there any pay bars, or can you just go to any on AI?

Did you notice if the lido had tomato pasta sauce (or did they have tomato pasta in the restaurant)?

Thanks for all your info, this is great!

Ic,

Will you let me know about the Baileys, this was included on the Spirit in Sept.

The 90p extra charge was only for the Liqueur Coffee. these all carried an extra charge.

Only frozen cocktails were non alcoholic ones but did not try these so cant comment, if it aint got alcohol in it its not worth drinking is my moto!
Casino not really my thing so not much info on this sorry. Think minimum was 5 but cant be certain they definately had special days advertised in the Cruise News when the minimum was lowered and they had people showing you how to play.
Sky bar probably my fave because this is where we had are first drink and the views are absolutely stunning. A good place to go if you have an early sailaway as you can see everything in comfort.
Cancan lounge is purely to watch shows these are repeated so you dont miss them whatever sitting you are on. We did miss a show called Revival which we were told by other passengers was the best one but again this could be just personal taste.
Oklahoma lounge probably another favourite all game shows, early evening quiz, weekly karaoke, and spotlight cabarets took place in here so lots going on but be careful because could become quite crowded and difficult to find a seat.
Clipper bar is realy good for a pre dinner drink there is always a good atmosphere and a bit of a buzz in here. If you do go ashore in Agadir try to get back for the traditional British pub lunch thats held in here on that day with a good old sing-a-long and typical pub food. It was good fun.
Blakes bar a bit dead to be honest went in there for a quiet drink twice but ended up falling asleep. Good if you enjoy playing board games as they have a good selection in here as well as daily puzzle sheet and ships newspaper
You can go to any bar on the ship on your all inclusive no restrictions and the staff are falling over themselves to serve you a drink even on deck the sevice is excellent you never have to leave your sunbed!! We were on late dinner sitting 8.45 which suited us but you have ample opportuniy to change with a special desk set up outside Seven Seas on the first 2 nights for this. Noticed tomato pasta sauce in the Lido and pool bar a few times so you should be fine. Must also give a mention to the comedian who did 2 shows we thought he was absolutely brilliant but he was from Blackpool and i dont no were your from in the country but i dont think the southerners quite got the humour. I think they have different ones on board for each week so give it a try we really enjoyed it. Its depressing me writing all this knowing ive got to wait for next one but we are planning to do another next year just sorting out dates and stuff. Hope ive answered all your questions you no where i am if youve got anymore.

Wow, that's great Chilli! Thanks for all of that.

We now know that the drinks list that someone posted a link to is NOT for the Destiny - unfortunately. Never mind, sure there will still be some good drinks! Did you notice if there were strawberry daquiris or margaritas?

I really can't wait now - just packed some of the toiletries! Getting excited! Need to write a list of clothes. I'm not really sure what clothes I will need because when we did this cruise before it was january and quite cool. Sounds like it will be warmer and I may need shorts, or even a couple of skirts for daytime - however might need to cover up if we go into any cathedrals or anything maybe in las Palmas.

What did you do in the ports?
