Hi.
Going on the Destiny cruise in November and I was wondering about the dress code for the Captains night. I've got a tux and wondered if the black tie rule applied or can you wear any colour of bow tie and cummerbund.
I though I'd like to wear some brighter colours (Red of Green) but don't want to lookout of place. Any advice please

Sorry I have no idea on that one - I don't think we're going to go to Captain's night as my husband doesn't want to even carry a suit never mind think up anything more fancy.
What date in November do you go? We're going on the 9th. Can't wait!

Yes it is quite acceptable to wear any tie you like, mine range from white to multi coloured hues to suit my mood. I have even worn my red tux on ocasions
Enjoy your cruise.
Enjoy your cruise.

Hi
We are maybe going to get off the shop and go to the fixe prix shop (fixed price). Can't stand the thought of haggling! And thinking about maybe the beach too. Will see. I'm looking online for info, but I can't seem to find a map - I had one last time on the cruise, but I may have threw it away thinking I'd never go back!
I will certainly give you all the info on my return!

hi wal41,
my friend and i are going on the 23rd (leaving hubbies behind) so we are hoping to have a ball too. we are 2 middle aged women with blonde hair if you see us give us a shout. I'll look out for a guy in a red or green dickie ha ha. i have been to morocco before and it is quite daunting, however i would like to go shopping, therefore we may do an organized trip that day although they are usually expensive. as for the captains night, i think its a chance to dress up, although some people don't bother to much. i have just bought a bright red dress, this is not me normally i'm a black person (so is my friend) we will be like the 2 black widows ha! ha!. 31 sleep nights left not that i'm counting. hope to see you there.

Hi tenpin and thanks for the info, that makes me feel so much more confident. I think I'll stick with the black tux but the tie should suit the colourful coasts.
Hi Tercar, I like yourself am looking forward to the 23rd and by what I've read on these reports it sound fantastic. My wife and I have booked a cabin on deck 4 or 5 but don't know if there are any cabins that are better or worse than others. we've opted for the late sitting for dinner but again don't know if thats wise. On one hand you have more time to get ready (takes me 5 minutes then an hour more waiting looking at the watch ) but we may not get a descent seat for the shows,
any thoughts. Hope to see you there.

hi wal41.
there are usually 2 shows every night therefore if you miss one you can always see the other. i didn't realize you had to pre book your dinner option, never had to do it before, prefer the second sitting i like to eat about 8pm. hope i can change this when i am on board. my friend is really looking forward to the cruise as she hasn't done one before, i hope it's as good as the others i have been on. i have been on the destiny before, however it was then the Sunbird, it was good then. hope to see you there not toooooooooooooooo long now.

Just over 2 weeks for me - I'm getting excited! I've booked 2nd sitting for dinner - when I looked the cruise up recently the price had went up a fair bit, and also there was only 1st sitting available. I'm thinking we might be able to change then. Also, we're also likely to try the lido as we're vegetarian and I'm not sure how we'll like the food in a an a la carte restaurant.

Hi there,
When my husband and I went on a cruise on theTopaz a few years back, it seemed like the captains dinner was more of an excuse for the ladies to dress up in all their finery, the men got by with shirt, tie, jacket and trousers(obviously!)
It was just a night where you get to shake hands with the captain and then eat a lovely meal. Hope that helps Fionat
