| hi
we went to rome on a trip arranged onboard the sunbird which at the time was owned by airtours which is now owned by thomsons and called the destiny. although the excursion was very good visiting all sorts of ruins etc, our guide was ott with visiting churches, we lost count how many we visited which left very little time to view the colosseum. we had just enough time to walk around the outside then it was time to return to the ship. it was a very long and tiring trip but still very enjoyable. we are returning there in 6 weeks time but will think long and hard about gettig to rome by some other means and this time actually going into the colosseum. on another note HOLD ON to your belongings, bags etc as there are plenty of people who would also like your belongings.

| Hi Maria .Just back from a week on the Island Star,My wife and I visited Rome two year ago,we did not get inside the Colosseum that time, but this time we did,we booked the Roma Express Excursion which began with a Special train into St Peters Underground Station close to the Vatican.our guide fast tracked us into the Colosseum and we spent a hour inside, also fast tracked us into St Peters Basilica .we also took in the Forum,Arch of Constantine, River Tiber, Circus Maximus ,Piazza Norvona.we missed out on the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain this time though, I would say its almost impossible to see all the sights and enter them in one day, maybe if you share a taxi with another couple and actually pay the driver to do the tour of famous places it could work out cheaper than the £79 we paid each. we hope your cruise is a good one ,kind regards Ernie

| Have to agree with Quizzer, this is an excellent excursion with Island. There is a lot to fit in on 1 day, and this covers most of them. We had a really good tour guide too, who was really passionate about her home city!
Forget the advice to try a tartufo in Navona Sq - thought it was horrible!!

Moderator Request.
This question was raised about a Thomson Cruise, to which I personally think do great Rome Tours.
By Quoting Island Cruise Ship tours is slightly mis-leading and may differ vastly from Thomson tours.
