First Cruise on Thomas Destiny Advice Please
Just booked today for next Friday our first ever cruise on Thomson Destiny from Tenerife . What clothes do we need to take especially the evening, any tips should we avoid Agadir., do we need towels. My wife says is it cold at night on deck. Any advice will be welcome..

Hi Jazzer,
Welcome to the Forums.
Here's a few snippets from another post. Not sure if that the cruise you are doing, but has some good advice anyway.

Have a read through. I'm sure one of the Cruise fanatics will sail this way soon.
Excuse the pun
And several reviews can be found here

Hi sounds like you will be doing Colourful Coast out of Madeira, great cruise for first time.
No you don't need towels, but perhaps a warm jumper if you plan to spend any time on the open decks after 10pm otherwise I expect it to be a warm 65 and above but cooling slightly after 10.
Agadir can be a bit daunting but you are okay if you are firm with the hawkers just say no thanks or make out you're Dutch. More of them being a pest trying to sell you goods than any danger.
Have a great cruise, check out above links for more tips or look in the cruise forum.
(Edit) At least one formal night in the dining room, jacket and tie requested, but not complusory otherwise chose this night to eat in the buffet.

Hi Jazzer,
We will be on the same ship as you mate.
I will be wearing a red carnation, crash helmet and flippers.... you can't miss me.
We are looking forward to it, and have cruised on a few ships over the years.
We have not been to the ports on the itinery, so we are looking forward to it all.
Just don't be daunted by those out to impress as I was in the Carribean for the first couple of days on my first cruise.
Just think of it as your home for a week, but please, non of the string vests and y fronts in public though.
We are flying from Newcastle this coming Friday at 9.55am.
Who knows, we may meet, but, given there will be 1,450 passengers, we may not.
Have a great time.

My wife and I have only been aboard the Destiny once and in the Med in the summer. Even so when the wind is blowing at sea on an evening it can be a little bit chilly.
On an evening the dress code is generally smart but casual. If you want to get dressed up then do so. Plenty others do.
For the captains evening, we took a lounge suit and evening dress, but wore them just the once. We go again this Summer I dont think the suit and dress will be going with us.
We only took towels for the poolside and beach. The cabins tend to have bath towels provided.
Hope that helps. Enjoy your self.

The dress codes rotate each night, from casual on first night, then black tie, then it eases off thru the week to casual by end of week
for daywear just casual is fine
loads of people wore just lounge suits in place of dj's but its always nice to dress correctly
you will be notified of the evenings' dress code in the daily 'paper' that is posted to your cabin

Well that is it, our first cruise and very enjoyable it was too. First thing we were lucky that we never went the week previous as the weather we were told caused a rocky time so there might have been a different impression. I have never seen so much food and such a wide range on tap all the time. Question is this typical of most cruises. Entertainment was excellent really good the evening show in the Can Can Lounge followed by the latenight Cabaret was first class. The double act of Barricade were quite hilarious. Bit of a scramble for a seat but you always got one. The crew were a friendly bunch always ready to assist and the young lady who looked after the cabin was a dream and cleaning the ship seemed to go on continuosly. We had good dinner companions and blended well and most people at breakfast were ready to give advice to us about there cruising experiences. We went on several excursions they tended to be OK but I thought a little bit overpriced the trip to Morocco especially. At the end of it a good time was had by us and we will certainly do another trip at sometime.
