First Time Cruiser - Debit/Credit Card?
I was planning on using my debit card to pay for onboard services but someone has told me to check as I may need to pay by credit card ? Has anyone used their debit card and if so, did you have any problems or was it ok ??

First Time Cruiser - Debit/Credit Card?
I sailed on Destiny in oct 07 and registered my Debit card to my cabin
with no problem at all. I then went and paid my bill in cash the day before we left and had no problems at all. The few remaining items that we bought on the last day were then then taken off my Debit Card. The process was faultless in my experience so you should be fine. If you need any more info let me know.

Check before you go as some ships only take credit cards and cash. Why, I dont understand as with the debit card your money is already in the bank, while if using a credit card it is tick, isn;t it!!

First Time Cruiser - Debit/Credit Card?
we have cruised with Airtours on the Sundream and since Thomsons have took over it we have sailed on the Destiny with them also. RE; paying at the end of the holiday, the first cruise we did we had no problem at all but we did hear many names being being called out on the final day of disembarking and the reason foir this was the cards had not beenm cleared either by the bank or by the credit card company, we didnt forget this as my wife is a worry bead the next time we went on a caribean cruise the wife told the bank we were going and the card would be used to pay the final bill, no problem they said, that's fine, but it wasn't, the bank put a hold on the card and said we had to contact them to confirm use, the initial cost of this was ridiculous (to call from ship to shore) we did get the card cleared and the full refund for the call but I'LL TELL YOU SOMETHING IT VERY EMBARRASING NOT JUST FOR US BUT FOR A FEW PEOPLE WHO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM!!
DON'T GET CAUGHT OUT,
LET THE CARD COMPANY OR BANK KNOW OF YOUR INTENTIONS ;->

I agree I always do that now just in case it happens, plus it lets the bank know only you are using this card on ship and in forign places and not a fraud user,

Hey Bo & 2eak02
Thanks for that advice, think I'll phone the bank and let them know, just to be on the safe side - who would have thought that paying for a holiday would be that complicated !
Cheers LMG
