| My family and I were on the Spirit last October. My husband wore a suit and tie and my son (age 12) wore white shirt, dickie bow and waistcoat. Probably 75% of men wore a tux so your husband definitely won't look silly. I think as long as it is smart, anything goes. We are going again next October and my Dad is takng a tux then but I think my husband is sticking to a suit.

| There are quite a few people who dress for the occasion. You wont look the odd one out at all. If you dont dress up you may feel a bit silly then though as a lot make an effort.

| we are doing our first cruise in August 2008 and I too wndered if I needed to take a tux. However, the tour operator (who has also sailed on the Spirit) tells us it wont be necessary as its 'easy come easy go' whilst on board. Will probably take a jacket tho'

Hi fellow Cruisers,
We were on the Spirit last September for the third time, and while I do not agree with Suzis that is is 75% I would say at least 50/60% of men wear tuxes or suits and tie, and don't we look nice for our Ladies who outshine us by really dressing up to the nines.
Com'on Guys is it such a big deal to look smart once in a while, after all surely you didn't pull wearing that England shirt.

| Just come back from the Spirit this last few days and I would say that 60% of the men wore a tuxedo for the Captains dinner,35% wore either a two piece suit or smart jacket with appropriate trousers with shirt and tie and 5% wore no tie and no jacket but at least a collared shirt but you will feel uncomfortable in that minority I would say.

| I agree; assume I was on the same cruise as you, Huddersfield Tourist? "Pharaohs & the Promised Land." Will be writing a report when I get chance.
