We are cruising on the Spirit for the first time in August 2008 around the Med. I have heard that the ship still suffers with vibration even after its refit!!!. Is this true and how much vibration is there?

Although, I believe the experience of sailing on the ship far outways the vibration. Is this true?.

Hi cruisers,

Welcome to the cruise forum, and to the selected few who are about to spoil shore-based holidays for life. The first cruise is the start a world of magic.

Now the Spirit, it really is not that bad unless you are travelling in the bilges, and quite honestly we have never had a bad nights sleep on her. This may be due the the several cocktails consumed after dinner.

Take it out of your mind and just enjoy your first cruise.

Your first cruise will be out of this world, and I bet you wont to do anything else but go cruising 4* & 5* hotels dont even touch the sides.

Many years ago I did not even want to do cruises they just did not interest me at all, I kept thinking of all the negative stuff that could go wrong. My hubby talked me into one just to try he said. WOW I have never looked back, the buzz it gives you when its starts to sail out of port is unbelievable and especially if the captain blows the horn Ohhhhh!!!! the thought of it. Just Brill You will enjoy it

I cant wait for mine in 5 weeks time

Enjoy your cruise Tenpin, The only thing wrong with these cruises you feel like Mr Blobby when you get home, but never mind it soon comes off (not) ready for the start of the next one.

We went on the Spirit for the 1st time in April '08 (altho we had cruised several times before with another co). Yes, she does vibrate, even on auxillary engines & yes, it's sometimes quite noticeable, both in port & at sea.
It seems to vary in different parts of the ship & someone we spoke to had to take a pic down in their cabin as the rattle irritated them, but apart from that, they weren't bothered by it, nor were we. One eve, sitting in the Braodway lounge, most people were having a good laugh at the strange vibe! It won't stop us returning.

TenPin. Many thanks for your reply. Only six weeks before we cruise on the Spirit we are really looking forward to it.

I have actually poken to people who live local to us who confirm that the Spirit is an excellent ship and have had a great holiday.

It will be a totally new experience for us as this is our first cruise.
Best wishes.

Hi we are cruising for the first time early october with the kids, bit nervous of what to expect & worried if the kids get ill, all the usual first timers nerves !!, i forgot to ask the travel advisor what the transfer time was from palma to the port, i'm sure we'll all be fine just a bit worried about my 3 yr old getting sea sick, also are the drinks real expensive, were going FB. Getting exited now!!
