Hello Shazzy,
Once the site settles down again after the new owners took over early this year, I hope to put forward a 'meet & greet' suggestion for cruises.
So I do hope you have some success with your post. I must admit meeting new friends is one of the best part of cruising.
Do have a great cruise, regardless of any replies, it is fairly easy to meet and have fun with people on board. Do join in the quizzes or other games that way you get recognized and are asked to join in again.

| Thanks for replying and the advice.
Am really looking forward to it, a little dissapointed no one has replyed to my post, its going to be a empty boat or shy people on board.lol.
People still have 2 weeks to read my post, a good idea about the meet and greet, as this could also give people the chance or organise shore trips, as they sound really expensive for the organised ones,
If we do any then we will do the organised ones as we are on our own and this is our 1st time,
thanks

Hi Shazzy,
Just one point, should you not wish to go on ships tours, there will be taxis and mini-buses outside dock gates who will do most sights for less, you may have to wait till they fill up, but not for long.
The English spoken may not be as good as that on the ships tours but ok for a quick look at whats on offer.

| I'll be going cruising in 2 weeks for the first time. I am so excited.
It will be good to meet other fellow first time travellers.
Does anyone know about the excursions ref to Jewels of the Mediterranean. I would love to know if it's worth going on the trips.

Hi Maberley,
Welcome to the world of cruising.
With regard to all ships tours, this is a matter of how much you want to know about the ports you visit.
Ships tours, which you can look at on the Thomson site, are in gereral very informative but are expensive, so you just need to be selective on which you can do better on your own.
So gererally look at the tour brocure in your cabin and at the traveling time on the coach. Half day tour are fairly close while full day one are allmost impossible to do by taxi/bus.
Most Med ports offer hop-on& off buses from ten Euros up, these are great for just getting a taste of each place, at very low cost.
The one place I always suggest use ships tour is Rome, this is solely because of the distance from the port. (the train is ok if you are a seasoned traveler)
I come in most days and will answer any more questions if I can.

| hi,
ours is a booze cruise to to as of the drinks package, you need to drink your moneys worth otherwise its pointless paying out for it,lol
i cant believe no one has been in touch about going on this date!!!
i have just read a review and they said its more like butlins with all the kids jumping on each other and others in the pool, running through the restaurants in wet costumes. so im a little worried now that its going to be overun by children,
i have 2 kids myself, but they are in spain with their grandparents, so was hoping for a relaxing time.etc
oh well a bit late now, as we are going tommorrow, fingers crossed, will let you know how it all goes.

I think its a bit too late now but I hope you have a great cruise. I have put 2 and 2 together and come out with are you Carols daughter? We were on the spirit a few weeks ago and had a great time, of course there were children there but they were not much bother. I hope its the same for you. WE are thinking of going again in October and I hope to take Alex. She loves cruising at the tender age of 10. As i am writing this i am thinking of you all at the sail away party, well worth going to. ah well ill have to dream for a few more weeks. Carol

| Hi Tenpin,
Sorry for the late reply to your message of 02/08/08.
The holiday was great I had a wonderful time.
I did take the ship tours as I was travelling alone. The tours was okay but I was a little disappointed because of the time limitations on the tours; we couldn't go inside the art galleries or museums only outside and look at the buildings.
The tour guides were brilliant. They gave a lot information about the cities, town and cultures.
Thanks for replying the advice.
