APD Leisure Sunterra

Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

Postby FullMonty on Thu Apr 24, 2008 20:37 pm

I doubt if it was APD leisure.

LCI Travel have a place in Long Eaton and the freehol.com was the name of LCI's website, now defunct.

Interestingly DRI's managing director promised to clean up their act.

Can you remember anything else they said? Did you for example post to this thread because they mentioned "Sunterra"?

Sorry - that should have read "European Sales Manager" rather than Managing Director.

So fullmonty you think that the statement was a lie made by the European sales manager when they referred to cleaning up the act.
First thing i would start with before coming out with statements like that would be to gather all the facts not make assumption's.
If ellie123 would reveal the name of the company who called her than the name of the person who spoke to her, than what lies were told to her so we can approach DRI and find out what is going on.
I could quite easily come on here with a false i.d and say that i was saved from a fate worse than death after reading what you have posted on here fullmonty but without proof it is meaningless.

Barry

I responded to a post. Of course it could be a fake. So could yours.

If you had read it carefully there is nothing in there where I accuse anyone. I doubted it was APD Leisure, I think it is more likely to be LCI.

I ask for more information.

Sorry Barry, not sure what else I could have done.

I have said before - I believe that Marty was and is sincere in his attempt to clean up the industry. I am not sure whether his definition of clean is the same of mine but I am happy to give him a chance.

The lady said she was being called because she had filled in a questionnaire. You telling me it was true and she had?

What was that about not arguing?

In any event - the statement was certainly made about cleaning up the way that it is sold. If sales are still being made by the same people in the same way DRI's intentions may be honourable but perhaps it is not yet at the top of their list.

This is a pity because even if a points operation is well run and provides what it says that it will people's first impressions stay with them and if they are sold to by a pushy condescending salesman (shades of CLC) they will resent it for a long time.

Fullmonty your Sherlock Holmes in disguise somebody comes on here and mentions a defunct company and you work out it is LCI.
so we know know that LCI is using other company's to sell DRI product's i will mention that fact to DRI when we get the rest of the info like,

What was the name of the person who's she spoke to.

What was the contact number they gave.

What day did this phone call take place.

Once we gather that information we should have LCI bang to rights.

Barry

Don't worry Fullmonty i will give you full credit for your detection work, next thing we will be having the Caledonian group phoning people.

I also live in Long Eaton and I recieved a phone call from LCI on Friday.

I asked them how they got my phone number as i'm on the telephone preference service, they said I must have filled in a form on my return from holiday. 'That's bizzare as I haven't taken a package holiday in years' I said.

When I received the letter I realised it was Sunterra, a few years ago my husband and I signed up for 10k worth of points after we were told we could have 2 weeks in the kids hol's every year for that money.

When we received the pack it turned out that it was impossible to get 2 weeks for the amount of points we had bought. again, it was a con.

Thankfully because we signed whilst abroad we had a cooling off period and cancelled in time.

I will have pleasure in calling them and telling them that their own criterior I am eliminated from coming to the presentation as I attended a presentation in the last three years. LOL

That's interesting because Glyn Margrave who owns LCI gave an undertaking to the Information Commissioner that his companies would cleanse their data to ensure that you would not be telephoned.

http://www.ico.gov.uk/upload/documents/ ... taking.pdf

Unfortunately it is not dated but if you contacted the Information Commisioner then they could probably tell you the date.

Ref your reviews.
Us moderators have nothing to do with adding of any reviews to this web site, we work only on the forums, the reviews go through to the site owners who then put them in the required section, so we have NO idea why yours havent appeared so far. When did you send them ? where were they for ?. Let me know and I will look into it.
