APD Leisure Sunterra

Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

Selly 75 posted in 2006 and will no doubt be long gone.

APD site here - www.apdleisure.co.uk/ nothing on it - click the box and you go to DRI. That's what they sell so if you don't want it, don't go.

APD Leisure Limited was registered as a company only in February 2008. There is also APD Lesure and Marketing Limited of the same address - Yealand Conyers, Carnforth.

The holiday will not work out much less expensive than you could buy. (Add in airport taxes, supplements to get the airport you want etc etc. )

For this you will be subjected to 3/4 hours hard sell in the UK and then another 4/5 hours in the resort (some people report up to 8 hours) you (eventually) get to.

Take a look at the new Consumer Protection Regulations here:

http://www.timeshare.org.uk/cpr.html

and get to know them reasonably well. See how many they break during the presentation.

Have they told you it isn't timeshare? Strike one.....

And believe me whilst I am certain in your own mind you think you are able to resist them - many thought the same and haven't.

Why take the chance?

Hi all
New to the site because to be honest we holiday in two places only, the Lake District and Cornwall, we know both places rather well and really have never had any need of a site like this... hope no one is offended...

HOWEVER... heheheheh.. we've got one of 'them letters'... and yes we do indeed do surveys.. but get this one guys... ready... my wife.. who is the person who took the original call from A.P.D. is chuffed to bits because.. she is 'one of only 20 people in the country to have received this offer'!!!!!

We were due to go and see these people this Saturday in Carnforth, I now intend to phone them again tomorrow morning and ask a whole host of really interesting questions concerning all the points you lot have raised.

Guys THANKS.. you just saved us a whole BUNCH of money we don't have!..
All the best
Chris

Can anyone tell me what happened when they were taken to court by APD Leisure, as we have been stupid enough to sign up with them and have paid 2 grand.

Hi, my husband and i have also fallen victim to a scam by apd, in my opinion these people are just awfull, whenever i try to contact them i just get fobbed off my letters have been ignored and when i have managed to speak to a manager who was called Paul he was so rude i actually came off the phone in tears. But i am not going to be beaten by them i am in process of taking action against them to get my money back for a holiday they had told us could be taken whenever we wanted but then said we cant take it untill next year but wont give us our money back. I have never ever dealt with any people so ignorant to basic customer service, they are shocking. i would be gratful for any messages of advice or support from anybody else who is or has been in same boat. Thanks xx

LCI who sold Sunterra which then became Diamond Resorts also had an office in Long Eaton, but I am sure this is a coincidence.

Try looking up Daily Mirro+DRI in Google and reading the heart-breaking stories of people who have found they cannot afford the increasing maintenance fees and have found out that DRI still want their money.

This company changes its name all the time, APD leisure and Marketing Ltd, APD Leisure etc and are nothing to do with DRI though they did market for them under former companies, I believe. Make sure you keep all paperwork, log everything including all phone calls, dates etc and go to Trading Standards, Citizen Advice etc . They are targeting over 50s and have been getting away with this for years.

Don't give up fighting as there are many more dissatisfied customers out there see BView reviews on APD leisure for some of the latest updates

APD Leisure.
If you have received telephone calls and a letter from APD Leisure saying you have been awarded a free holiday then there is good news and bad news. The good news is that you really can get a holiday in Spain for a £50 "administrative fee" plus sitting through a 90 min sales presentation. The bad news is that APD Leisure would really, really, prefer you to pay them £4000 first, to join their "Club". If, like us, you go to see what it is all about, then I advise you first to make two copies of the APD letter, one to consult during the presentation and one to leave at home, in case you want to show it to your lawyer. The APD centre is in a pleasant part of Lancashire in a pleasant new building, built of breeze blocks but faced in real stone. The first thing the receptionist did was to take our letter, so that we could not consult it for details of what it says. A small discrepancy appeared within 2 minutes: we were told to fill in a questionnaire that asked if we were aware that the presentation would take 2h: the letter said 90 min. We were sat down round a table with a very friendly man who used to do an honest job repairing lorries, and for 90 min he tried to sell us holiday schemes that happened not to be what we wanted - all very friendly and good-natured. We tried to bring the conversation round to the kinds of free holidays we had discussed at length with the girls from the call centre. He would go off and consult with the boss and come back disappointed. We started reading our newspapers. Finally the director/owner, firmly offered us a choice of five holidays that were not what we had come for, and rather sharp words were exchanged.
Oh, and please be polite to the call centre girls - it was the least bad job they could find.

Firstly, I do own a timeshare and actually searched it out 2 years ago and bought VERY VERY cheaply on ebay and have used bonus weeks lots of times (thats really why we bought the timeshare) and we are really happy with ours and have had some lovely holidays in super quality apartments all for a £300 layout plus £200 per year maintenance fee.
You dont have to pay thousands and i have met people on holiday that have spent thousands by being ripped off at these presentations. Ask yourself why these company directors are so rich.
BUYER BEWARE.

However I loath companies cold calling especially as I am on the phone preference list.

I did receive a call from APD and allowed them to go on, they had a terrible noisy telephone line.
I received the letter today addressed to a wrongly spelt surname, so they dont really check much out do they.

I wont be going to the presentation but thank you apd you have provided me evidence to present to the phone preference company to prove you are cold calling!!!
