Forgot to add that the booking company they state is 2 B Travel have looked them up and they appear to be a spanish company. website for this company is www.2betravel.com.mx
We have decided that we will only act with people we have directly contacted as it seems there are so many people trying to Help!!!!!! us but allo want money up front and are not prepared to put anything in writing or in the post.
Carpe Diem
BJ &c - the site may be in Spanish - but did you notice the .mx at the end? It is in Mexico - it even has a mexican address on it if you look. I do not believe that anyone can get money back from Carpe Diem for you - so whether you get called by somebody or you meet them face to face or they are introduced by your best mate - they are not there to help, they are there to take money off you.

Thanks Fred for confirming what i thought. There seem to be so many people offering help at the moment but they all want money paid there and then and no one wants to send you information by post with addresses and phone numbers and contact names etc. We certainly have learn't an expensive lesson but we are doing all we can to contact legitamate people to raise the awareness of these scams

Hi BJ&VG
Don't go there! Yes we have had the call and they are a shoot -off of Carp Diem.
We let them send us all the paperwork thru, and yes, NO mention of legalities to recover monies, just pay a one off payment for your "holiday" and bring your paperwork with you! A good way of Carp Diem recovering the paperwork that was issued in the first place, isn't
it?
So be warned all Carp Diem victims, gnore the phone calls
Just so you all know, we are timeshare owners and we have now reported to RCI (the offical RCI) that we are getting phone calls regarding points, one we have had said they were carrying out a survey on their behalf! SO beware, they are all scams
I think we all have to accept the fact that we have all lost our monies, the only thing we find disturbing is that they can still trade under a different guise, they should all be locked away!

Dear all,
Thanks for your replies to my post I have got some further info which may be of use to some of you.
I emailed the British Consulate in Tenerife and got the following reply:
Thank you for your email & fax regarding Carpe Diem Resort.
The National Police in Tenerife have been following an investigation against this company and have requested anyone involved to forward any documentary evidence to them. Their details are as follows:
Inspector Toms de Armas
Unidad de Crimen Organizado
Polica Judicial
Cuerpo Nacional de Polica
Avenida 3 de Mayo, n 32
38003 - Santa Cruz de Tenerife
SPAIN
If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I now this won't get me any money back but if I help nail the toe rags involved then there will be some satisfaction, so far I have just sent a letter to them asking what info they require.
I will keep you posted.

On the advice of a solicitor, I have gone down the credit card route to try and get something back. Is proving a hassle but even if only get membership annual fees back would be something. ( getting this years seems a cert as would have closed down by then)

Hi all
well today we had a call from a steven Thompson who could sell our holiday package at no cost to us as the buyer paid all the legal fees etc. he said he represented FHP and wanted to know what was the minimum amount we would accept I said I wanted a minimum of 9000 for our scheme he said it sounded reasonable and would call me back in half an hour. Within half an hour he rang me back and had an offer from a mr & mrs griffiths who were willing to pay 9,600 now all I had to do was pay 995 reservation fee and he would process the application. I would get my 9600 plus my reservation fee by certified cheque or bank transfer. He did say I did not need to send paperwork until the funds had cleared. I thought how lovely and refused to pay any money up front and that he would need to send me all the written documents so that I could check it all. His response was why!! I think he got a little bit upset when my husband in the background started saying nice try we have already been scammed. Now waiting for the next unbelievable offer to come in

From the above information and things which I have seen elsewhere I believe that the best approach for anyone who paid any part of a transaction with these people by credit card is:
Make a formal complaint to the Office of Fair Trading (account of how you were defrauded and a copy of your payment slip/ slips) stating that you wish this to be passed to the police at the address given above. Ask OFT to confirm that this will be done AND to confirm that they are aware that the police in Spain are actively investigating Carpe Diem/ TSH for fraud. They should be in a position to do this.
Once you have this confirmation copy it and your complaint to your card company with a letter stating that it is quite obvious that there is overwhelming evidence of fraud and that you are claiming from them under S75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.

We went to Tenerife last year and was grabbed by this company stated that I won a prize. After 6 hours of hard sales, we did not sign up. However, they have stated that I won a holiday accomodation for 1 week to 1 of 3 locations stated on the leaflet and I have to book by certain time. I then completed the form and booked 1 week for accomodation to Portugal last July for 26.7.08 and paid 135 Euro booking fee.
I was told that I have to send my flight details 4 weeks before departure. I emailed the details to them and it bounced back and their phone lines does not work. The letter stated that the holiday promotion was agreed with Travel Agency Carpe Diem.
I got worried and found this site and read some comments. Does it mean that I have to find alternative accommodation now?
