You know we were thinking along similar lines. Our fantasy is everyone on this site gets together, goes over there, and stands outside their offices handing out warning leaflets.

We're all here thinking we've got to act on our own to get our hard earned money back from these amoral crooks, but there's power in numbers .

Below, an email reply I received today from the Spanish equivalent of the European Consumer Centre, I have registered a complaint with them. We were not told about a 7 day cooling off period, and it was not written in the contract.

Their reply:
"Thanks for the comprehensive information you have provided us with. Unfortunately we have many complaints about this and other holiday clubs, and we can say that, as you have checked, they offer a dubious product with no real guarantees.

You should have a cooling off period of 7 days according to the Spanish law, and that should be included in the contract (please find attached a leaflet we have recently published it for more information).

If you don't get your money back from your credit card company or at the same time you are trying it through them, we can help you within our competences (mediation) through the UK European Consumer Centre. You can contact them and they will tell you what they need to deal with your case. Their contact details are as follows:

UK European Consumer Centre:
Tel.: (0044) 08456 04 05 03
E-mail: ecc@tsi.org.uk
Website: www.ukecc.net

As for us, we are a public service organisation for consumers who require information or assistance in connection with the acquisition of goods or the use of services in a country other than their own. We are part of a European network, ECC-Net, of organisations and institutions which operate in a similar way, have similar competences and objectives, and are located in each of the Member States of the European Union and created at the request of the European Commission.

We help consumers for free in queries and complaints about companies situated in an EU country other than their own."

Another note of reassurance to any one who receives threatening letters from this shower after they have cancelled.
It is on one of the other threads but I can't remember which one.
In force in the UK as from this month is a law/directive concerning unfair commercial practices. It is EU wide, and is meant to be very wide ranging, covering unfair contract terms, misleading marketing, and other relevant stuff. From what I have read of it, it should sort CCC and the others out for good as there doesn't seem to be any way they will be able to get around this law.

Thanks Dee2 for the information. I have written to CCC yesterday and informed them that their practice of not offering a cooling off period was illegal and their claims of afforable holidays was basically rubbish. I have also informed them that I have reported the matter to the Spanish Consumer Board. I have asked them to refund all monies paid and cancel membership. However, given that so many people have also done the same thing, I do not hold out much hope of getting a reply let alone get any of my money back.

I have followed your advice and have sent an e-mail to ecc@tsi.org.uk and outlined my lamentable story and subsequent actions tonight. Hope I can get some good advice from them.

Watch this space.

hello everyone

i just returned from marbella and these lowlifes are operating there to.i was the usual scratchcard scam followed by a cab ride to a location about 10 miles away from marbella town centre.they wanted 6,950-1950 up front there and then no cooling off period.you are bombarded with the ccc presntation that goes on for about 5hrs.there,s no escape as your taken there by a chuauffer or taxi so you have to sit through the whole presentation to get the cab back.the trick here, it seems is to keep you there as long as they can to grind you down so you sign on the dotted line and after 5 or 6 hrs you just want to get out of there.i didnt part with any money and had no intention of doing so.

well done to everyone who has contributed to this post, i hate to see innocent people getting ripped off by these scumbags.i hope you all get your money back.

power to the people
