Hi all,

TALISMAN, I saw your recent posts JUST after I submitted mine!!! I am watching your story as it is almost identical to ours!! I have tried the TATOC a number of times but there is never an answer. I have now contacted them via their online form and by email. Will keep you informed.

DEE2, many thanks for your words of encouragement and yes, quite right, the b*****ds do owe us! I have the details for my husband to call Lloyds re the credit card money back, so lets hope that works.

We did indeed get caught by ticket touts!! We dont have a solicitor so will have to find one - do they need to speciallise in this industry? That mandatory 7 day cooling off period is very interesting - they obviously failed to mention it!

Feeling better now, knowing I have people I can turn to for such sound and knowledgeable advice and, Im sorry to say, knowing we are not the only totally stupid idiots in the world.

PML et al.

We attended Miraflora as well. Same story - same result. We went to a local lawyer who wrote to Global within ten days and Global have replied that we are no longer in contract. We are still trying to get the deposit back, but that may be lost.

My advice is to engage a local lawyer.

Some in this thread have asked for the name of mine. I have asked if they are happy about this and await a reply. So contact international yellow pages, or google it.

My lawyer pointed out that any contract which sold a spanish property had to be in Spanish as well as any other language, and you had three months to ask for this. On receipt, you had ten days to elect to come out of the contract.

Contact a lawyer and ask him. The cost is a few hundred pounds, but the benefit is a saving!

WOW! Now my head is popping from all the advice!! Thank you Another1. If your solicitor says yes, all is okay to pass his details on, please advise as I would hate to get it wrong with a solicitor and have to come on here for advice on THAT too!!!

WOOWOO - when were you there? The room was full of potential customers the day we were subjected to the presentation, I wonder if we are all on here now! We were there April 20th

PML You have been quite intentionally defrauded. The Reclaim/ Cashback type of deal has been set out here too often to go over it again (see the thread "Reclaim Certificate - have you got one?"). Essentially it is a gamble. There is not and cannot be any guarantee that you will get anything at all.

If you are within the seven day period from the date of signing you can write by international signed-for service stating that you wish to cancel the contract and you require the return of the deposit paid. This will probably not stop them but you would then copy this letter to your cc company saying that you require them to recover the money on the grounds of serious misrepresentation.

Do not enter into any conversation with these people. Note what they have already said and, of course, keep every last bit of paperwork. Write down between you exactly what you were told at the presentation.

If you are not within that period - and in any event if you prefer, and it could be the best bet - then I think that you should have a solicitor write to them for you. I can set out what should be in the letter if you wish. Contact me on fred-too@hotmail.com if you would like.

PML, not at the same time as you. I am quite interested if you were shown a laminate involving a well-known national newspaper while you were there.

During our presentation, there were quite a few other people there as well. They were also being shown this laminate.

WooWoo,

No we were not shown a laminate but were told they advertised in all the broadsheet papers - they named the Telegraph. I asked to see it and they said it was being shown to another customer, they would show me shortly.... which they did not.

What was the laminate then? Ad advert?

I was shown a laminate of an advert for the from the Daily Mail, stating that they must be a reputable company as the Daily Mail would vet them prior to accepting their advertisement....

I think we all know different NOW !

My visit was the 21st April 2008
