Club Class Holidays 'Take over' buy back.

There have been so many stories about Club Class 'buy back' regarding companies 'helping' to get money back it's almost a standing joke amongst people with experience in the timeshare and holiday club arena (Note: timeshare and holiday club are not the same thing, but that's for another topic).
Bottom line is don't touch any of them with a barge pole.
I actually sat through about an hour of presentation by Club Class in Tenerife in the full knowledge of who and what they are. I was interested to see their techniques. One neat trick they have at reception is a prize draw based on the numbers on your credit card. They weren't happy when I refused to play and actually told them that nobody sees my CC unless I'm buying something. Watch out for that one as it is very easy to fall for!
I was actually quite pleased with myself as I tied the guy in knots over his 'cheap' flights and accommodation world wide. I asked him there and then to price up a trip for me to match or better what I had already booked. The reality was that he couldn't get anywhere near the price I had paid through a conventional travel company. They couldn't get rid of me fast enough after that. Bad for business I guess :-)

I think you spotted the credit card trick (which is of course to make sure you have one - no one has ever won with it) very well.

One thing that the sales people never point out is loss of interest.

If you invest money into building society at the moment it is possible to bet around 6%+.

If you "invest it in future holidays" which is the sales person's phrase - then the money is lost forever. And is of course earning money in their account and not yours.

So make sure you add that in too.

Has anyone heard of Toby Gebhard of Inventory Solutions UK. ://www.inventorysolutionsuk.co.uk/,

We bought into Club Class Holidays about 5 years ago and like everyone else want out. Anyway, we saw an advert from this company in Monarch's inflight brochure, claiming he can help get money back from vacation clubs. He charges 10% of the money he's claiming and wants it up front. He won't budge on this and asks for the money as he's paying Spanish lawyers and also because he's won cases for people who have never paid him any money.

Obviously, the 'paying money upfront' is clearly a massive warning sign, but just wondered if anyone else had come across this or had any good news.

There is a thread about them here
www.timesharetalk.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4956

He states that he has a law degree and I have no reason to doubt this. He is not however an admitted solicitor so far as I am aware and therefore unregulated and with no requirement to have professional insurance. There is also a "Group" web site at www.i-s-group.co.uk/ and I have the opinion that they are puffing themselves up to look a great deal larger than they really are. The comment on that site that they "would argue that they have solved more disputes in our specialised field than any other legal office in the UK" does seem more than a little ambitious for a very small operation running for about a year.

I would want to see evidence of a track record, and an indication of the action proposed before parting with money. I would not personally use a "quasi legal" limited company.

Well it's been a while but I've had another phone call. This time its from a company based in Dublin. I told them they were the latest in a long line of people wanting to sell my membership. They are of course genuine (they said) as they are not based in Spain. They are the Alpha Group and have a buyer willing to pay £7,500 for our share. Naturally there will be a fee to pay up front as always. Has anyone heard of this group?

This has been seen before - the comment is in the Reclaim thread so I will repost:-

"Alpha Group Resales - http://www.alphagroupresales.com Registered August 08 with a “protected details” registrar in St Petersburg – you have to wonder why. No contact details on the site apart from phone numbers, which are Dublin. This is illegal under EC law as a physical address must be provided if they are selling something. It does not appear to be a registered business name.

They say that average completion time is 45 – 60 days. They have had the site open for 47 days (or they had when the original post was made) and they already show several ‘Testimonials’ which does seem a bit ambitious. Bills itself as “One of the leading Europe based companies” – after seven weeks in business? Pull the other one. They also list GVC Points for sale – since these became Sunterra some time ago and Diamond well before this company seems to have started up this does seem highly unlikely so it looks as if the “for sale” list came from somewhere else and is far from new. In any event no “real” reseller would be selling UK Diamond Points because they are not permitted to. "

So I would not be inclined to go there. Why should the wronguns all live in Spain? Upfront fee = scam, wherever.
