Not a member of DRI thank you.
I agree that there has been a complete change of management as you say in the original post. I do not agree that there is a change in the way the product is sold.
Currently LCI - and if you read these threads you will know they have some history - are selling DRI points. They say they are a travel company - they aren't they are a marketing company. They say they are ABTA - they aren't. They say they are ATOL - they aren't, they use an ATOL licence under the name feria holidays - which is DRI. Ask DRI if they have any connection with LCI. They deny it.
If the product is as good as you reckon - how come you have to go as a couple - why is one person not sufficient? Simple answer - it gives the person the perfect get out "I have to go home and ask my wife/husband".
If the product is so good why do they need to tell so many lies about it?

FULL MONTY.
Lets face it...you cannot buy a home on your own if you require the deeds in joint names..Yes you can go and view it on your own but not purchase!!
If you were to make an expensive Home improvement purchase, say Full house of Double Glazing, New Kichen, Conservatory, Driveway...1 doubt you could spend several thousands, without the consent of your partner/wife..
Remember..whilst on Holiday...you are unlikely to give up 2 days, to re-tell the tale. So i guess thats why they expect 2 to present too!! besides which..do'nt they say?? Two heads are better than One!

New Kitchen,
Well I bought a new kitchen, I got a variety of brochures from different firms compared prices talked it over with my wife and made a decision.
Are you saying DRI is sold like that?
Not by LCI it isn't.
And still neither you nor your mate have explained why DRI deny LCI is part of them (or their agent) yet LCI operate under DRI's ATOL 4160.

Because i do not know DRI//I cannot answer your Question??
My postings are just about the Concept, of Timeshare not the said company/organisation!!
You agreed that it would be highly unlikely that you would make a Financial Purchase without seeking your partners/wife approval..My point exactly!!

As for wondering if they existed or not, there is another thread about them on this board - the latest person to go to a presentation was last Saturday March 3rd.
You yourself contributed to it on February 21st or as we call it here little over a week ago.
There are two of you defending DRI on this thread - it was the other person I referred to as your mate.

I don't think that Kingdobe was defending LCI at all. There seem to be two separate issues here. That of DRI/ Sunterra Europe itself and that of the marketers.
There is a body of opinion on Timesharetalk which suggests that Diamond is trying to turn the European side into a responsible, functional operation. Time will tell.
With regard to the sellers (and resellers) - these seem to continue to operate in the "traditional" Holiday Club mould - use whatever methods you have to and say what you need to so long as the punters sign up and pay up. If DRI really wants to be seen the way it wants to be then they have to address this and have a serious clearout of these people and a published (and policed) code of practice for those who replace them.

To Will Self
I agree that it would be highly unlikely that I would make a major financial purchase without seeking my wife's approval
Neither would I expect to do it by meeting a high pressure sales person, nor would I expect to do it by being enticed to a presentation by a promise of a cheap/free holidayafter a cold call. And neither of us would expect to make a decision on the spot without taking away some paper work to study and if being asked to sign a contract given some time to do so. And if I take up the offer of a low cost holiday be expected to go through it all again - only longer.
To Fred2
I agree that DRI should clear out these re-sellers. When LCI and any others with similar sales tactics are totally closed down by DRI then I would be much much happier.
But then, where would DRI get their members from?

Yes - you went to a meeting - but how were you invited? Perhaps you said to yourself and your wife:-
"Do you know my love, I fancy paying over a large sum of money to a firm that will take over four hours to explain their holiday points system to me so that we can enjoy quality holidays far into the future and enjoy the privilege of paying a sum over to them each year for as long as they ask me?"
As for not having heard of LCI - in your previous post on February 27th you knew they were associated with Sunterra. Remarkably you forgot that very quickly.
As for my own holidays, I'm off to my Spanish home for Easter. The one I paid for by not by owning holiday points. The one I swap through holiday exchange companies if I want to go anywhere - like a month in Canada later this year.
