I also received a phone call from Rodney King supposedly of the "European Investigation Department" headed by Manuel Delgado to say Freedom Vacation Network have been closed down and £1.5 million set aside to refund people. Same story - I will get my money back on Dec 15th (cheque from HSBC) but need to transfer £395 to his company for court fees etc.
I looked on the FVN website which still appears to be up and running and has a warning about these sort of scams on its front page (pot calling the kettle black!)
He sent an email confirming the details - hotmail account & mobile phone no. and when he phoned back I challenged him about the whether I could get any objective evidence that I could trust what he was telling me. He said quite a number of people had already received their money through this private investigation company, but he couldn't give me any names due to data protection. He sounds quite convincing, but it sounds too good to be true - so it probably is.
I haven't paid him any money and am looking for any confirmation one way of the other as to the truthfulness of his claims.
Has anyone any evidence of FVN being shut down or of these guys coming through with refunds?

I wondered if anyone has actually found out whether FVN have been closed down? I can't seem to find any information on the web.

FVN reckon that they are still in business and they should know
http://www.freedomvacationnetwork.com/

In any case - if you deal with a company which says that it can get your money back - but works from a hotmail account and a mobile - what do you really think is going to happen once they have your money?

You wouldn't listen to anyone who turned up on your doorstep with the same promise but couldn't give you a provable business address and evidence of who they were would you? (Would you?) - so why does anyone give these cold-calling phone sharks the time of day.

If you think about it - it just does not make any sense at all, does it?

An update on the list of Freedom Vacation Network's victims.

Our group listing now stands at 14 members (Frodo had less and look what he achieved!)with 4 others considering their options. Of the 14 there are 4 who have had refunds (they joined the list anyway to help others by illustrating the widespread fraud that FVN wreaked and to help other members in their fight for refunds)

The list is growing and can be used as supporting evidence in claims to the credit card companies and in appeals to the Financial Ombudsman. You have to be on it to get it so please consider joining us. I re-issue it to all contributors whenever a new member joins.

re halt

Just returned from holiday in tenerife and visited the freedom offices at the market in los cristianos to try and get my money back to find that they are no longer there.
I spoke to a few of the time share people still trying to flog scratch cards and they told me that freedom had been closed down and are no longer on the island. They werent sure of the time, but said they were there there one day and gone the next.
I have been trying to get my money back through the office of fair trading here in the uk and spain,a month or so ago I received n e mail from them stating that the compny had not replied to there letters and that they were closing my case as the could not do anymore for me.
If freedom hase been closed down no wonder they did not get a reply.I am going to inform them of what I have found out and see if they can ive me any further information.
Does anyone have any information of there where abouts???

If you paid the whole lot by draft you have virtually no chance of recovering your money. If you paid a deposit of more than £100 by credit card you may have some chance.

Consumer Protection is at www.ukecc.net/ and the Spanish one at cec.consumo-inc.es/ although all that they say they can do is "mediate".

Whatever you do, don't deal with anone who cold calls saying that they can get your money back as it will cost you a great deal to find that they cannot.
