| this is my first post on this forum. just returned from playa de las americas where after accepting a scratch card i attended a presentation, about an hour or so, for the Freedom Vacation Network, who are i believe are connected to tenlanz vacation. in short the deal was £1650 for 3yrs membership or £10,000+ for life, refundable after 5 yrs i think!. i declined to join, but wondered if any of you have had any dealings with them. are they genuine or not? colin.

I think you made the decision and you will not now be regretting this decision. Freedom Vacation Network and Freedom Vacantions (should there be any connection) are on another forum's LIST of SUSPICIOUS
TIMESHARE COMPANIES.
You didn't mention any cash-back scheme so I assume this wasn't part of the deal they were offereing you.

| I paid a £3,500 deposit for a membership with Freedom Vacations, Tenerife with a 100% cashback guarantee. When I got home and googled the trustee cashback company's own website where they clearly state it is NOT a 100% guarantee. I tried to cancel via emails and phone calls and haven't seen a penny! Please be warned, the Notary Public who is acting as the Trustee is working as a postman and NOT a practicing lawyer. The local fraud squad in Aberdeen, Scotland and the OTE and the Timeshare Consumer Group Advisory told me I was one of many hundreds who have been scammed. Thank God I never sent my timeshare deeds and the balance of £3,000!!! You have been warned!!!!!

| Hi, my parents were on holiday in Tenerife recently and got stopped by one of these scratch card guys for Freedom Vacation Network.
They were told they had won a bottle of rum and the top prize of cash, and asked to come collect their winnings. Of course this was just a scam to get them to attend a high pressure sales pitch, they never received a cash prize, although I think my father was given a bottle of rum.
They were then submitted to 4 hours sales talk where they tried to talk them into purchasing a 10yr membership and trading in their timeshare.
My mother is diabetic and had not eaten for a couple of hours before they get stopped. So after 4 hours of this sales talk she started to get sick, going hypo, and needed food urgently.
Eventually, concerned for my mother's health, my parents signed the contract just to get away from the people. They did not have their reading glasses and so did not even read the contract before they signed it. Obviously they should have just left without signing; but it is easy to say this after the event.
Once they got back to their hotel and realised what they had signed, they went back first thing the next morning to try and cancel it. They were told the person they needed to talk to was not in and to come back in a couple of hours. They did this, but were just given the run around and were not allowed to cancel. They spent the rest of their holiday writing letters and making phone calls to cancel this agreement.
Once back in the UK, they have continued to try and cancel the agreement, and have been constantly hounded by threatening letters and phone calls from these people. They have not actually given them any money. The Freedom Vacation people have now said that they are going to get their legal team on to them and are making very serious threats.
My parents cannot afford to buy this membership and are worried sick.
Has anyone else had a similar experience, and do they know if there really is no way to back out of the contract as these people are saying?

| dilemma - FVN sales staff clearly have few if any morals. It must have been quite obvious to them that they were causing distress and actual harm.
They will continue to harass if they are not stopped although they will probably not go to court as the facts would come out and show them up. I would suggest an immediate visit to your local Trading Standards, with the details, and they will probably be able to help to draft a suitable letter. If that does not work - come back to us.
If these people phone your parents should not under any circumstances speak to them other than to say "put everything in writing" and if there are subsequent calls they should put the phone down on them or anyone who mentions FVN. They must not enter into any discussion at all. They should make a note of the date and time of any calls and what, if anything, was said by FVN.

| Fred 2 - Thank you for your reply, I will advise my parents not to talk to FVN on the phone when they call, and to contact their local trading standards agency.
I just wish there was a way we could put a stop to unscruplulous organisations like these once and for all, it makes me very angry that they can get a way with tormenting people and ruining holidays.

| Hi, just returned from Tenerife, and like the rest of you was hounded, by these Holiday Club Reps, everywhere we went. We were lucky, in that, there was a programme on the television, called Holidays Undercover, which they went with hidden cameras and uncovered this scam. We told them we were travel agents, that got rid of them. They claim to be representing a Sunday Market, but as we know this is not true. The other fact is that the companies they claim to get discounts off, have never heard of them, especially easyjet that is as cheap as it gets, no discounts for anybody.

| Thanks colin, we have just got back from costa adeje, we had the same feeling, we actuaaly got caught up with two companies this one and another, it actuaaly put a damper on or own holiday, and now we have had a phone callsaying a lady is selling one through them for £1,950 for a 50year life spam, again , what do we do. After reading these comments definatley not sure, and to be honest the plane fare on its own seems to come out dearer than taking a fully incluysive holiday after looking round sharon

| A familiar tale - my parents have also recently returned from Tenerife having found themselves the victims of misleading sales tactics of Freedom Vacation / Global Destinations plc et al.
Scratch card, prize..........etc
There is no doubt they will neer see their £375 up front payment but at least I've prevented them from shelling out a further £4000 to a company that may not even exist.
They claimed that my parwents would get their money back after 4 years and even put this in writing - still not worth the paper it was written on.
Our local Trading Standards do not speak very highly of the 'company'
Steer well clear of this outfit everyone.

| Hello,
Me and my partner are literally feeling rather sick!! we have recently come back from a nice holiday in Tenerife and us too were approached by a couple in the street saying they were carrying out a holiday survey and gave us a scratch card lo and behold you guessed it we had won a bottle of champagne and a free holiday!!
All they needed from us was an hour of our time, so we like many others ended up being there for 3 hours!! and parted with £2250!! with a promise of cheap holidays and all our money back in 4yrs, we thought that this was to good an opportunity to miss and went along and signed up, now they we are home and thought we should look into this we now realise that this is a total scam!! I can't believe we were so foolish.
Today we have checked our credit card and they haven't taken any money and luckily the credit card company suggested that we cancel the card and it has now been cancelled!! I am just worried now that they will be coming after us for this money one way or another!!
can they take us to court?? would really appreciate a thread back.
Cheers

| Hi,
Just got back from Tenerife, We too got roped into an hour of the FVN sales pitch, but we said No after 45 mins and the guy just waffled for another 15 minutes so that we could claim a free bottle of booze and a free holiday, which we won't be going on because it is all a con anyway, But for an hour we got 10 euros, a nice cold glass of coke and an air-conditioned office to cool down in. We just told them that it wasn't a decision we were prepared to make instantly, that we would go away and talk about it, Thats not what they want, they just want you to sign there and then, so we said NO No No.

| Was on holiday in Tenrife September 07 and the same thing happend to us scratch cards, taxi, free breakfast the lot!!! with Freedom Vacation. only parted with £100 but had a balance of £8.400 to pay by 14th Oct. Realised it was a scam & sent a recorded letter cancelling as soon as we got home, had a phone call from them as we got home & told them about the letter, they did not get into much conversation with us but told us that they would now pass it to their legal team.
We believe it is a crimianl offence to make false or misleading claims when drawing up a legal documant and this is our case ( if we need one)
It is now 1 week over the "due date" and we have heard nothing, will let you know of further developments.

| Hi,
Do you know if Holiday Netwok Solutions is selling their own bogus long holiday discount product or are they marketers of CCH, DWVC or whatever other fraudulent company?

| AGALBE - this thread is nothing to do with Holiday Network Solutions. Look for the HNS thread further down the page for info. Scam company. See also www.timesharetalk.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5938

| Hello
We got back from Costa Adeje yesterday, BOY! do I wish I had seen this website before we went.
We appear to have been scammed too!! we did the scratch card, she seemed a nice woman, from Oldham, took us back to the office for an hour's chat thanked us for the bonus she would get because we won a holiday etc etc etc......... then after 3 1/2 hours, yes it does indeed seem too good to be true, so we like mugs signed up & have parted with £3,500.00 which I will today see if I can get back on my credit card. The balance another £3,250 is due in November, our liason is called Sharon Vile - I should have taken that as an omen!!
Oh and there's a sting in the tail too! we were asked to sign a form which asked for comments, comments like had we been pressurised into buying??? we hadn't really but we had been worn down......... but I am now wondering if this will be superimposed into another document as a total disclaimer??
It's hard to believe it is a scam as all the documents look so professional? how an people be so damm cruel?? is it really all fr the money???
