Hi Do not sell to another company because they cannot sell them DRI do's not accept third party sales.
There are 2 suggestion i can make first join a site like Timesharetalk or dri-members .com or ebay which is expensive but also effective.
The thing is the management fees must be up to date or the sale will not go though and there can be no outstanding finance on it.

Barry, we have just signed up with sunterra/diamond resort and are going on our free hol to santa barbara in a couple of weeks time.
At the presentaion in Carnforth we were told that if we recommend people we will get 100 per recommendation. Does this work? Chrissy

Hi Chrissy
Have you not read the thread about this company ?. Really would you want to drag a friend into it as well ???...
Considering all the facts I think the 100 is also pie in the sky.
I just burst out laughing when I read this,, all the people who have been scammed are at their wits end trying to get out of it, then someone comes and asks if they recommend a " Freind" do they get money...??? ( wasnt laughing it was more hysterical )

Hi Jan, Ive only just found this site and we signed up 2 weeks ago. From what Ive read so far it seams that its people with kids or people that need certain dates are being dissapointed. We are very flexable and can take our hols anytime with being self employed. Anyway Ill keep you posted with what happens.
The people I have recommended know about the `sell` and would be happy with the free holiday, with flights included......Chrissy

Chrissy so long as you know all of the facts about the company involved, I still would not recommend any friends, these people are experts at parting you from your hard earned cash. There is NO such thing as a FREE holiday, that is something I have learned from years of experience being a moderator on this site.
Dont say you havent been warned.

I find it difficult to believe that people are still buying from Sunterra/Diamond Resorts. I luckily only bought an explorer membership which lasts for 3 years. This year I had saved points from last year go on holiday to the states but my management fees were increased by around 25% to 446 for 4000 points. As I could get accommodation in the states without using point I have refused to pay the fees and cancelled my membership. I admit that the holidays I have had in Portugal (weeks freebe), Tenerife and Grand Canaria have been good accomodation but when you bear in mind you have to pay air fares and managment the holiday is not that cheap. The big problem though is the management fees as I have said now that Diamond Resort have taken over the fees have gone up 25% this year. Next year who knows. Mine, as I have said were 446 for 4000 points but if you had the standard 8000 points the fee would be around 760 and if you had more points the fees would be more pro rata. For full members the fees are legally binding. This means that for 50 years you or/and anyone you leave the membership to will have to pay the fees. I have a number of friends who have membership and have or are desperatly trying to get rid of their membership. If you look on ebay you will see people trying to sell their points. To do this they have to pay the management fees. When they are sold on ebay they very often do not cover these fees but I suppose they are just glad to get rid of the millstone round their neck. My advice is buy in haste repent at leisure.

The problem as i see it most people on here bought from the previous owners and for whatever reason cannot use there points. One of the many reasons given there is no availability to were they want to go.

1 to get the best out of your points is to think ahead plan were you want to go book as early as possible a year ahead is best.

2 never leave it to the last minute unless you wish to use the late availability (59 day rule half pointer).

3 There are many people who shout how bad DRI is than go and enjoy holidays with them, only when pushed they will say that they have never had a bad holiday.

I have friends who i recommended to join who have have recommended others (thus robbing me of 100 quid),but the one thing they alway say to me is thanks they and there kids have had great holidays.

Others on this site decry DRI but not one as bought off DRI they have bought from the previous company or there agaents just remember that,on a few weeks time i will be going back to Menorca for a week's holiday it will be our third visit with DRI thats how bad they are.

I have never bought into a holiday club of any sort so clearly I have no experience of the places you mention.

My gripe with DRI as you well know is that they continue to use (or did in the last couple of weeks or so) as an agent of theirs, a company which is a hard sell company which adjusts the truth to entice people into their premises. Once there they are subject to a load of lies and a very hard sell. The so-called free holiday also includes a hard sell.

If the product is such a good one I am interested to find out if it is sold any other way - except by scratch card; "you have been awarded a holiday"; and the various variants of these enticements.

For it seems to me - despite what people say about the actual product that if it is as good as people like you say it is - it should be possible to sell it by other means. People have no difficulty recognising and paying for quality normally in other fields, without enticements onto premises and the hard sell.

Would you be kind enough to post the full costs of your holiday (s) ?

This to include how many points you have and how much the yearly maintenance is of course.

I am also interested in how you propose to sell these points and free yourself (or your family) of the annual costs - for it seems they are unsaleable except to other members of DRI and thus you are stuck with the maintenance for ever.

And I am happy to be corrected on that if I am mistaken.
