This is a very well established company. The product is very good. It is not timeshare in the old sense that is fixed and difficult to get out of. They have fantastic resorts all over the world and a very flexible system. The free holiday that you have one will be enjoyable and safe for children however you will have to take a presentation, but there will not be any hard sell. its not their style. Trust me I know :bounce:

my girlfriend made me attend a similar roadshow with the reward of a free holiday at the end of the day, i cannot say that it is the same company to which everyone is refering to you, but to let you all know that we parted with 86 pounds to cover our flights and we were not offered any of the locations dates or airports which we had specified and it took 12 months to get our money back, no one gives something for nothing please be warned :bom:

OK, yes the Sunterra 'free' holiday does exist - if you can stomach the high pressure sales presentation, and the lies, lies, and more lies they tell you to try and get you to part with your money.

I'm already a member - I got taken in by it. Now I'm stuck with something that doesn't deliever what I was told it does. Lets tells a few truths here;

Accomodation is OK, but certainly NOT 5 star
customer service is appaling
Availability of holidays is terrible - even one year in advance !
You CANNOT get your money back after a tie in period - DESPITE what the sales people tell you
Membership fees are on the rise, year after year - way above inflation
You still have to pay for flights, transfers, foods, activities etc. etc. (sometimes even the electricity you use)

At first I thought it was just me who had being unlucky - but the more research I did, the more and more people I found who are hacked off with Sunterra / GVC and everything it stands for.

My complaints fell on deaf ears - I now have trading standards involved looking at a gross misrepresentation case (i.e telling lies about the product and how it can be used)

My story is fairly complex, and lengthy So, at my cost, I've set up a web site (advert & pop up free) to tell the truth and expose Sunterra for the cheating, lying company they are. Check it out - read the TRUTH for yourself. You can find it on; www.sunterra.co.uk

If you want the free holiday, take it - but DO NOT part with any money, & DO NOT beleive the lies they tell you - however convincing they may sound. You have been warned

Cheers

Hi - and welcome to the debate !

Am just wondering what your view point is on the company you work for. Are you proud to work for Sunterra ? - a company that tells lies and decieves it's customers ? - a company whose customer service is appaling and whose sales people will say anything to get punters to sign up ?

The product doesn't work - it's not felxible, availability is terrible (even off peak) and the european resorts i've been to certainly are not 5 star luxury like we were told.

I can't sell points back to Sunterra for my original investment (another lie I was told by the sales people) - I can only sell to existing members, and get maybe 25 per cent of what I paid for them if I'm lucky. The points trade for between 35 to 50 pounds between members - these are the same points I paid over 180 pounds EACH for !!

The system is obviously over subscribed - otherwise why so much difficulty in making a booking. But yet Sunterra will still try to sell points to new / exisitng members. More points will only make the situation worse

I've set up a web site to warn people about Sunterra and it's underhand tactics - read the TRUTH for yourself at www.sunterror.co.uk (no pop ups or adverts)

From the response I've had from my web site, I'm not alone in my disappointment with Sunterra - not by a long way. I currently have trading standards looking into my case (it's interesting to note that Sunterra are already well known to trading standards....)

Personally, i'd be ashamed to be a employee of Sunterra (as indeed is the person who has posted a topic on another web site and calls themselves 'ashamed employee') - 'nuff said !

I have been with GVC Suntrerra for Eight years and have had some brilliant hollidays. You need to play the system to get maximum benefits. Take every promotional offer for free holidays. Yes you get the presentation but I learned to say NO! at a very early age.

Play the system. Use the interval International Exchange system as well. Shop around for flights, although we have had some good deals from GVC/Sunterra.
The salespeople are typical sales people, They have to make a living somehow. It's a really s*it job they have.

Just say no when you have had enough.

:bounce: do not part with your money.it cost me 4 ,500 and i ended up selling my points for 1250 as i couldn't get holidays when i wanted. i could only use my points every 2 years to get somewhere decent.do not believe the reps, they will tell you anything to get you to buy more points.
