GVC/Sunterra

Won a free holiday? Suspicious? This is the place for you!

GVC/Sunterra

Can anybody let me know if they have become a member of GVC/Sunterra. I have recently signed up and bought membership points which will entitle me to use their hotels worldwide for the next 51 yrs.
all i have to do is pay for my own flights, which sometimes can cost just as much as a holiday itsself.
i sometimes wonder if i have done the right thing but then i see flight offers and get all excited.
i am going on my free holiday this year to Santa Barbara Golf and Ocean club at Golf del Sur, Tenerife as a part of my signing up deal.
if anybody can tell me anything about GVC/Sunterra or the Santa Barbara hotel it would be much appreciated :?

GVC/Sunterra

Hi Jezzy,

Welcome to the Forum... :D

Hmm... can't tell you anything about GVC/Sunterra. But I can tell you that the Santa Barbara Hotel in Golf Del Sur is amazing. I normally stay next door at the Aguamarina Golf and the last time I was out there (October 03) I went into the Santa Barabara for a nose around. And I can confirm that it is blinking Gorgeous. If all the Hotels you get are this good I reckon your onto a winner!

Cheers

Jezzy,

I was out in Tenerife in Dec 03, and thought Golf del Sur looked really nice - bit windy in winter though!! Didnt see the Santa Barbara but the resort on the whole has good write ups!

If you're still around, Jezzy, and want to know about GVC/Sunterra, go to the independent Sunterra members' forum at
Edit - URL Removed
where all your questions will be answered by members who have no axe to grind [well, no financial one anyway!] We're a great lot.

I've been an owner with Sunterra for eleven years - too much to tell you here, but I'm generally very happy with them.

Hi,
If you'd read our forum rules, you'd have seen we'd rather you didn't use the forum as an advertising board!

The link went to a site where visitors have to pay to view the forum!

Dear Techie,
You may have to pay to participate in the Sunterra members' website forum, but you can join the message board for free asking any questions you like - which is what Jezzie wanted - and you can access any other part of the website for free. I dispute that I was advertising - advertising is when you have something to gain from an endorsement and I certainly don't: I was just recommending a website to someone who'd asked for help. Surely that is within the rules?

Sunterra Information

Postby HW Techie on Fri Mar 12, 2004 11:14 am

Hi RC1,
Firstly, if you have had good experiences with Sunterra, we'd genuinely like to hear about it.

Your first hand experiences would be of great value to Jezzy and many others who find their way here. We get many searches for Sunterra, so would assume people are looking for more information than is currently available.

As far as the link you posted, I'm afraid we remain slightly suspicious of people who register, post a link, and are then never heard of again. Glad you came back!

With the general reputations of "Holiday Clubs", it'd be nice to hear of a success story.

GVC/Sunterra

Hi HW_Techie

No I'm not a disappearing act, although I was a little put off by your "welcome"!

As I said I've been a member of Sunterra [ex LSI, ex GVC] for eleven years and been to many of their resorts [they have dozens]. The standard varies slightly but mostly 4 star with a couple below that. I responded to Jezzie partly becuse he mentioned Santa Barbara on the Gold del Sur of Tenerife and we'll be there in a fortnight. We've also been to Cala Blanca on Gran Canaria, Los Amigos and La Quinta on the Costa del Sol, Kenmore in Scotland and Alpenclub Schliersee in Germany. We've also exchanged through RCI and II all over the world.

We have a few beefs about Sunterra's hikes in management fees, and the usual sales "exaggerations" but mostly we are very happy as I said. I'd be happy to answer any specific questions about Sunterra, but I do wish you'd allowed the link to the members' independent website and message board where so many hepful members [over 2200 signed up] can answer detailed questions.

Hope this clears up any misunderstanding.

I should check out the website called www.crimeshare.net and look for Sunterra. You might find it a bit worrying.
