There are very mixed messages out there about Seasons. Some like, some find them very unreliable.

I would just say that everyone (practically) "wins" the basic membership. It is to get you in. It isn't really worth anything very much - it's only Seasons who say that it is worth 3750 after all. It is however a very basic membership - used to be called "Green for go" membership because it only gives access to green weeks. If you want to make real use of it you would need to upgrade and I am sure that this is what they hope you will do. I am sure that you can find better deals on the internet without getting stuck with something that you may not want after a few years. You are of course stuck with a non-cancellable contract to pay the maintenance for ever and a day because no-one will buy the membership off you.

I am a very satisfied Seasons member and own two red weeks.
My suggestion to you would be to go on the offered holiday as if you find that it is not for you, you will get your money back.
On the plus side - Seasons is a british company. They bank with Nat West. Their solicitors are English as are their trustees. If you do decide that it is for you then you will get a property deed just like with your house deeds.
If you feel that you have been pressured or change your mind, you have 14 days to cancel without penalty.
If you have a choice of venue I suggest that you try to go to either Brunston Castle in Scotland or Clowance in Cornwall. Laugharne is being slowly refurbished. Bude is very small and hard to get into. Whitbarrow is really only for those into outdoor things such as walking and mountain biking.
On the minus side, you will have to find annual maintainance fees but this will be the case with every company and they are not exorbitant.
Sometimes at peak periods, it can be difficult to get what you want so you do need to book as early as you can.
If I can help further then come back to me.

RB - clearly these weeks memberships are given away to get you to join. What can you actually do with them in practical terms, what would it cost to upgrade to something which gives flexibility and what is the maintenance cost per red week?

You are right when you say that the green weeks are the carrot.
You can choose to use them but will have a very limited choice of weeks (mainly in the winter months).
The best thing to do with one is probably to input the details into Dial an Exchange which then gives you the right to deposit your week and hopefully exchange it for another somewhere in the world. This will also let you purchase bonus weeks from DaE which are very cheap and exceedingly good value. (I returned from Scotland yesterday having had a great week in a 3 bed sleeps 8 for 200)
The maintainance cost will vary with size of the unit you purchase but as an idea a 3 bed sleeps 8 for 2008 is currently 412.
I bought some years ago so cannot give an idea of current costs but sometimes there are deals to be had.

I to have received a letter from seasons holidays.I phoned them up and quoted the prize draw number for the 3750 value. Then she asked me to pay 350 for maintenance costs, then she said i would get a discount so instead of paying 350 i would pay 275.What a joke eh.
You could have yourself a lovely holiday with that money.Nothing in this world is free especially internet prize draws.

Hi,
Have a look in the UK forum on this site where seasons have given a full explanation of their Green for Go offer.
I think that they have explained the terms and conditions very well and as they say "If you do not like it, who else gives you your money back ?"
Go - enjoy and make your own mind up.
Timeshare is not for everybody but then neither is camping or cruising or holiday camps. You pays your money and you takes your choice !
