Has anyone out there had any dealings with Holiday Warehouse in Los Cristianos in Tenerife??
Is it a genuine concern, or is it yet another "scam" ::roll:

Yes RollerSwords, we went to Tenerife in February and on our first day we were approached by touts with scratchcards. As we had never been abroad before we did not realise that accepting the well rehearsed speach and going with them to accept our prize meant that we had to go attend a 5 hour presentation which we fell for.

We thought we were going to get cheap flights as the flights to tenerife were quite expensive because we can only take a break when the children were on school holidays which means high flight costs.

Once we returned home we found that the only people who seemed happy with holiday clubs were the ones who could go at any time, place and take full advantage of the 4 weeks per year that were offered as part of the deal.

We cancelled our agreement as we had paid by credit card and apart from the first couple of letters telling us that we signed a binding document that we could not cancel, we have heard nothing since, touch wood.

We fell for the Holiday Warehouse scam in July 2003. We even came home had second thoughts, did some research and asked for credentials to be faxed to us in the uk. It all seemed to be ok so we went ahead.

After trying for their "amazing deals" in Mexico and other exotic places in 2004, we found we could get the apartments at a reasonable cost but their promise on cheap flights anywhere in the world just did not materialise. We found cheaper flights ourselves on the Internet.

We ended up going back to Tenerife with them. We got decent enough accommodation (for the first week anyway) but had to sit through the timeshare pitch, as the company who managed the apartments we were in said this was part of the deal. We confronted Holiday Warehouse down at their office in Los Cristianos why we had to go through this and they said we didn't! The timeshare company didn't agree so come the second week in another apartment block (it seems you can only book individual weeks, not two together) we had an almighty argument to avoid the timeshare pitch again.

When we visited the Holiday Warehouse office, they were at pains to prevent us complaining in front of the potential new customers and met us in private. Wonder why?

The money we paid them was tied to a "reclaim" deal where it's all returned in 55 months. I guess we'll just have to wait till then to see if it's a real scam or not, but it certainly feels very close to it.

We've now abandoned all hope of securing cheap deals through them and are going down the normal holiday routes these days.

Holiday Warehouse, Tenerife - don't touch them with a slimy bargepole!

We got involved with holiday warehouse in Tenerife November 2005
we had a free weeks accommodation and the promise of a free week plus free flights
I got a call in September from a company called Freedom Vacations saying they had taken over Holiday warehouse they said they could not give me the free flights but they could give me a free weeks accommodation in Tenerife at the Bel-Air
Fine so we booked flights to go in January 2007
I have just received a call (8/11/2006) from the Bel-Air complex saying that they have not received any money for the accommodation from Holiday Warehouse but they will honour the booking
I am lead to believe that the company called Freedom Vacations is Holiday Warehouse trading under a different name

The European Consumer Center in Madrid is dealing with success with all these Discount Holiday/Membership Clubs.
They are in contact with the Spanish Police to inform them about the "scams".
SEND TO THE ECC YOUR COMPLAIN WITH A COPY OF ALL DOCUMENTATION THAT YOU HAVE.
YOU COULD GET THE MONEY BACK.

As a victim of the Holiday Warehouse "scam" I am told by a travel agent based in Tenerife and which was contracted to sell the so-called "free holiday" that Holiday Warehouse closed down towards the end of 2006 (October?).
So much for the Holiday Warehouse's kind sentiments eloquently expressed in their correspondence -"we wish you many happy holidays".

Good riddance to the lot of them.No doubt some other "cowboy"outfit(s) will re-emerge.

We "joined" Holiday Warehouse in April 2006..pretty close to April Fool's Day !! and have been in correspondance since then with various bodies including OFT (UK) the Spanish equivalent of OFT, British Consulate in Tenerife, our Visa card suppliers etc etc. It is very clear that HW is not honouring any offers and the so called money back deal is for all intents and purposes a competition which may or may not result in some of the money being "returned" after 55 months.

What staggers us is that reputable UK banks are allowing these scam operators to use Visa yet will NOT SUPPORT us as their genuine clients. Wonder why ?

We have just about given up on getting anything back, knowing we have been conned.

I am in sales and was on my guard but this is the most slick sales scam I have ever seen. Do not fall for the 'prize'. We conveniently got the 'free' holiday (except that we do not qualify as we are under 35) It took an hour for the sales woman to reduce me to tears. I was on holiday to recover from the shock of hearing about my fathers illness and some jumped up ex-hairdresser called Jan told me, a graduate with an excellent job in marketing and a bigger mortgage than she could dream of that I was un-ambitious because holidays were not a priority in my life. Do not fall for this. You will never ever get your money back either in cash tetrms or in savings that you'll make on holidays.
