I would just ignore any correspondance from them and carry on as normal, they seem to try and frighten people into coughing up, but if they dont get a response they will leave you alone, hopefully.

I am not altogether convinced that ignoring them is the best option and it is not the same as "standing your ground". If they actually do decide to take out a debt summons (and ILG have taken people to court) you get 14 days notice of the hearing - say 10 working days or less - to get a defence together. If you have signed a binding contract, as most people have, you have precious little defence at law unless you can prove misrepresentation or a breach by them. I would be inclined to speak to Consumer Protection. Most of the offices have come across this kind of operation before.

I would send the case to the OFT, with all documentation.

It is a good idea to copy complaints to OFT. If enough people do this they may eventually wake up and do something. They will not however give help in individual cases (you may possibly be lucky enough to get an acknowledgement) so your first port of call, if you are not using a solicitor, should be Trading Standards or Citizens' Advice as they are there to help the individual - and many have a dossier on the Holiday Clubs.

Hi gary1,the reason i havent been in touch is that nothing has happened to me yet since i informed the debt collection agency that the account they were chasing is under dispute. The debt collectors then sent the file back to D.W.V.C and wanted nothing to do with this dispute. What ever you do, do not ignore the letters from the debt collectors, speak to them and explain that you have a dispute with D.W.V.C (ILG).But i did ignore all the letters from D.W.V.C you are under no obligation to speak to them ever.I hope this is some help, take all the advise from Fred2,he's good.

I do not agree with you Fred 2. The OFT deals an cooperates with other official consumer institutions around Europe, including Spain, where it is being happening the 90% of the fraudulent cases.
The OFT is the key, in the UK, to get rid of DTMCs.
The collaboration between officials bodies is equally important.

What I said was that OFT is not the place for individuals to go for advice and I said that because it is their declared policy so it is very hard to disagree with. You are of course free to let them know of your complaint, and should do so particularly if it is one which is connected directly with something like DWVC, where they have a specific undertaking which they should be policing. I know perfectly well that they co-operate with international bodies. They just don't deal with individual cases, and what they say is (Quote from the OFT web site)
"The OFT cannot provide advice or assistance to individual consumers or traders. If you require consumer advice, information on specific consumer rights or wish to make a consumer complaint against a trader, please call the Consumer Direct advice service on 08454 04 05 06 or visit the Consumer Direct website."
I said, as do they, that your first port of call should be Trading Standards (or of course Citizens Advice (which runs Euroconsumer)).
Euroconsumer is the website and email advice service for the UK European Consumer Centre hosted by Citizens Advice.
The UK European Consumer Centre is jointly funded by the Department of Trade and Industry (not OFT) and European Commission. There is a network (ECC Net) of offices known as 'European Consumer Centres' in many countries throughout the European Union.

Has anybody been taken to court by ILG and won? Presumably that would set a precedent that would help others.
My credit card company are still waiting to hear from ILG. Would return of a deposit make it any less likely that ILG would go as far as taking someone to court? It obviously doesn't stop the threats, based on gary1's posts.
