Island Residence Club - Radisson Golden Sands, Malta

Any views or opinions of this company / organiastion please? Just returned from a pro-mo holiday which was really great. Only found this site after our return, and concerned that the finance is with Barclays Partner Finance. All the sales spiel contained everything mentioned in these threads, low cost breaks, bookings available anytime, cheap deals at all major 5* resorts, and offers to buy-back within a few years. I have 6 months before the finance agreement begins, and a week left to cancel the agreement. Any advice will be very welcome !

Are you purchasing deeded Timeshare..or just joining a Holiday Club?

We have signed-up for an apartment for 1 week in the "silver" timeframe of the year - March/April & November. Included in the purchase is the holiday club membership with Interval International. Likewise, management fees are not due for another 2 years which are claimed to be "capped" at 5% pa. Is this a "good" one, or do we cancel now? Many thanks.

From your last responce, it would seem to me that you have taken out full membership..ie..Holiday Ownership. and fully deeded..because club only members get promised anytime, anyplace, anywhere, which is untrue. But Silvertime seems to me to indicate that you are purchasing
Ownership, therefore gaining the maximum benefits that timeshare can offer..Just as a point of interest you are not limited to Holidaying in those times outlined.Only..you can bank your weeks and exchange to other restorts Worldwide.

Thanks for your response. Yes, what you state was said to us at the sales presentation, so is this correct? Sorry, who is Silvertime ? Is there another thread about this I have missed? Still concerned about the finance company, however it was suggested that I might wish to seek my own for a lower interest rate. After they gathered all our details in the talk, they returned with a "deal" that fitted our circumstances exactly! Seemed ideal at the time, now I'm a little suspicious. Many thanks.

Ooops - sorry, just re-read the previous thread - "Silvertime" was a mis-spell for the "Silver" time frame period we have been sold. We were informed that these weeks could be banked or exchanged, for books at Golden Sands or elsewhere. Still uneasy with the transaction now though.

Well if you think about it...IT would be no good offering you a deal at a time that you could not use..YOU simply would not have purchased..
Silvertime must be Radissons colour coded time of year. Some Resorts, use RED, WHITE, BLUE!!. In terms of the finance house, i cannot comment!! For your own peace of mind, perhaps you could re-finance, it by another means!! On the plus side Radisson are a high Quality Hotel Group, and like you already stated you did enjoy the Pro-mo Accommodations. II.are a very high Quality Exchange Company,
offering Resorts such as Disney, Marriotts, De-vere, etc.So your exchanges will match those you own!! Enjoy..

To Willself, thank you for your responses. There are "good" points to our deal, and sincerely hope we have a valid and truthful contract ! I will keep searching, and advise of any future bookings we may make. Thanks again.

Hi Alleyne.

We are on the promo holiday right now. We have bought some timeshare too. I did not enjoy the way the sales pitch was done but I think it's all kosher (it's a very nice hotel after all) and other people have signed up for ownership too and seem happy enough, so my feeling is... I think it's going to be ok.

Do seek a different finance deal though! They should have made this absolutely clear to you. The 6 month interest free can be paid off at the end of 6 months- and you really should do this as it will suddenly get very very expensive if you don't.

You lucky thing - still there enjoying the luxury and the climate !
Yes I think the "package" is good - wife got sent flowers when we got home, and we have received the follow-up phone call.
The finance details were pointed out, so we will be looking to settle from elsewhere. The first test will be trying to get back out again (we are tied to school holidays), to enjoy it all again !
