Well, well, well!!!

Aren't you all getting in a big tizz about nothing???

I have just returned from Capital Coast in Paphos after our first holiday with Lion Resorts and we have been so impressed with everything, resort, accommodation, standards, representatives of Lion Resorts, the way we were treated, absolutely everything, that we have had no hesitation at signing up for the 32 year deal they are offering.

If you only go on a couple of holidays a year and want guaranteed standards when you get there, we consider this to be great value for money and also look forward to taking advantage of all the deals we now get with RCI - if you only have to sit through a presentation on another holiday club deal to get some of these prices, that will suit me fine ;)

BTW, Capital Coast is outstanding - some things need to be fixed and finished but if you are booking your holiday there next year, when all the snags should be ironed out, you are in for a treat!!

What lies did they tell you?

BTW people, we got round the overcharge by adjusting our first instalment payment to take into account the difference in currencies. They were a bit taken aback but couldn't object when I explained what I had done!

Hi,

My husband and I fell for this companys lies back in August in Pathos and unfortunately we also paid the full £3400 not just a deposit. We have been fighting ever since to get our money back. Whilst still in Pathos we had spoken to an ex-employee and he had told us what a scam it was. He looked through our paperwork and told us that we should have been given copies of everything we signed, which we weren't, and that legally they should have given us a 14 day cooling off period as the agreement was for 3 years.

As soon as we got home we wrote to cancel the agreement and demanded our money back and contacted the credit card people. We also rang Lion to tell them we were cancelling and were told we had signed a non-cancellable agreement and had a pointless conversation during which I pointed out the Timeshare Act and they told us we hadn't bought a timeshare. I then received an e-mailed from lady named Lisa Breeze, who had kindly e-mailed me to point out that I obviously didn't know the difference between Timeshare and Holiday Club membership, and that had we bought a timeshare is would have cost us considerably more! I replied that the Timeshare Act also covers Holiday Club Memberships of 3 years and over, and the agreement we had was for 3 years. A few days later, my husband took a call from Lion Resorts, who said they would be refunding our money. Two weeks passed - no refund. I e-mailed again, and was told that the refund would be made within 28 days. The 28 days has been and gone and still no money. Several e-mails have been back and forth - (Ms Breeze does have a lovely patronising tone to her e-mails) with the company explaining that if they refund our money it is a gesture of goodwill, because we signed a non-cancellable agreement, and me pointing out that they have broken the law and we have a right to our money back. The last e-mail from the lovely Ms Breeze informed me that "You are incorrect with your facts regarding timeshare legislation, do you not think we are not aware of the rules and regulations which we have to abide by in order to operate, the product you purchased runs for a total of thirty five months and does not fall under the timeshare act this does not require a fourteen day cooling off period as you keep stating." and that once our request had been dealt with they would let us know so we could inform our credit card company - from that I take it that the card company have also been in touch with them! My reply to Ms Breeze was that if they wanted to be exempt from Timeshare legislation they had better change the agreement they get people to sign so that it states 35 months and not 3 years!

Do not be intimidated by these people. Check your agreements - if they state, as ours does, that your membership is for 3 years then no matter how many times they tell you your membership is for 35 months you are covered by the Timeshare Act and as long as you cancel within 14 days, you should get your money back - and lets face it nearly everything they tell you is a pack of lies - including, so it seems, how long you are signing up for! It may take a fight and a couple of months, but keep on at them. I am hopeful that our money will be returned in the next few days, but if not I will e-mail Ms Breeze again!

DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE

They are not trustworthy, they lie, they double book and then evade your calls to speak to the "manager."

DO not trust Mr Akram in resrevations - he is spineless or Mr. Yasser, the cowardly General Manager.

Avoid at all costs - even if you book 4 months in advance, they will still phone you 24 hours before your flight and tell you that you will be staying in a 3rd rate, shabby sister hotel, in a completely different part of Sharm and catering for a different type of holidaymaker. We have lost money, patience and a holiday because of these dishonourable people. They are donkeys of the first order.
DO NOT TRUST THEM. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. KEEP AWAY.
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

I have just returned from a 2 week holiday with my family in Sharm, Egypt. At the First Choice welcome meeting we were offered a trip to visit a 5 star hotel down the road; just for our feedback, and would be given lunch and 50GBP for our trouble etc etc. Because this was part of the 'Welcome Meeting' I assumed (wrongly) that this would lend it some credibility!! Well to cut a long story short, we were sold a 'Holiday Membership' for 2795GBP, putting down a deposit of 500GBP credit card that day the balance owing on a Barclays credit Card agreement payable within 6 months. We were with 2 other families who were with their respective 'sales people' and were told that we were the only family who had not signed up yet! (part of the pressure sales technique) this was a lie. We were repeatedly told that the product was a holiday membership club and definetely not a time share, another lie. The next day at the hotel (Conrad) I went on the internet and was very concerned to read the comments on this thread. This prompted me to go straight to the reps and complain. The FC reps did not want to know and refered me to person called Vanessa from Lions Resorts who worked at the hotel. I demanded that I go back to the hotel the next day for complete cancellation. The next day this did happen and I was taken back to the Hotel to meet up with these so called sales people. Although they said that they could not refund my card I demanded that if they did not I would not leave their office; and forcefully but politely told them that it would be a very VERY good idea for them to credit my card NOW and I would leave them in peace. Eventually and reluctantly they did this and I came away with a credit card refund transaction receipt for the full deposit. I am now back in the UK and I have just contacted Barclays in Glasgow to cancel the contract agreement for the balance 2795GBP, which has now been done.

There are lots of details that I have not included, so if anyone is interested pls let me know and I will give more info.

The thing that really p****d me off was the lies these so called sales people give out so naturally. They are not skilled sales people they are sad liars who could not sell anything if they had to back it up themselves and face the punters.

The fact that First Choice included this in their welcome meeting is discusting and I will be formally complaining to them asking them for an explaination.

I'll NEVER be duped again by these toe rags.

Hi

A quick update...

We got our money back!! And because the Euro rate has dropped we got back more than we paid - I am looking on it as compensation for the hassle and interest as they had my money for 3 months!

Hello everybody :? i have just stumbled n this post by accident i wish i had seen it a long time ago. We too got conned last year outside The Hard Rock Cafe by a scottish girl who asked us if we would go and appraise a 5* hotel for Brits we would get a free lunch and two vouchers for Hard Rock as we were a large family. On the way there i thought it was odd as the girl chatted she asked did my husband work we said no as he was off sick, but i worked ina call centre. When we got there like the other person we were told we must have misunderstood that they did not want us to rate the hotel but they kept on going on about our holiday habits and what did we like when they told us it would be 4,000 for membership we said we did not have that sort of money or a credit card, they said not to worry that we could afford it . They would wait to next month, we could pay the deposit though the bank and pay over a year for the rest. We said we were not sure we said we live in a council house have 4 children and i only earnt 13,000 per annum. they said we would be able to save a lot of money so like others we signed a contract a leisure passport.

After we got back another two weeks and i got made redundant we are now on income support i phoned them up they said we will still have to pay but it hasbeen several months nw and we have heard nothing more should i worry or what?
